Kongpob Pov

We were on our way to the hospital. The doctor said he had good news for us. Arthit was holding onto my arm while I was driving. He wasn't nervous and a playful smile was on his face. I wonder what you are thinking about, how you will look, you already know that pretty well from all the touching don't you Oon? Kong! He still had this lovely shy streak in his character and one thing he couldn't stand was teasing. Especially denying him his kisses and touching was something he would absolutely fume about. Though he only had to pout to get me drop it. Whenever he pouted or dropped his shoulders I would give in to him. I was quite weak in standing up to him.

The doctor didn't tell us much new, the only really important thing was that my P', could be operated the next day if he remained in the hospital. He had thought about it for a short time before agreeing. They gave him some meds and he wasn't allowed to eat anything starting at 10pm and no drinking from 4am. His operation was scheduled for 8am and would last at least 12 hours. We had been told of the risks that were involved with the operation and after some deliberations together, we had already talked long and elaborately about it so it didn't take us much time to agree.

Once he had put down his signature he was brought into a private room, a needle in his arm for an infusion and a load of pills to take. I was nervous and so was he but what could possibly go wrong? The doctors had assured us that the risks were only marginal and that in the worst case he wouldn't be able to see. And since that was the status quo it couldn't get any worse than it was already.

I showered him with sweet words and kisses all the time he was awake, pouring out my love for him. The thought of having to leave him for 12 or more hours was very disconcerting to me but I had decided to fill up the time with everything I had to arrange so that I would be distracted. It was an advice of Arthit's father and I had decided to try it.

The next morning we shared a last kiss before he was put under anesthesia. When they took him away in the bed I couldn't hold my tears, the last thing I knew of him was the soft squeeze in my hand before they took him away. Arthit's father stood next to me, not in a much better condition then I was.

I had left the hospital and went for the HQ of my company to attend a meeting of the board of directors. Since my parents were gone the company had lost its two top executives and I needed to appoint new ones. The general shareholders meeting had appointed me chairman of the company board of directors and chairman of the council of commissioners effectively granting me control but since I was still studying and only 18 years old I needed some people to lead in my place. I had already some of my allies put into leading positions to have them ready in case I needed them. Right now the time had come for me to promote them to fill some spots on the board. I already had my own vision for the company quite clear and this meeting I would use to put it into real company policy.

The board room was large, at an average meeting around 14 people plus the chairman would attend making it a tango for the chairman to maintain order. My father had once said it was like being a lion tamer, being in a cage with the lion. I didn't know for sure whether that was true but I wouldn't let them walk all over me. When I arrived at the company HQ the board members stood waiting at the front door offering me a round through the building. I denied while walking in a straight line towards the elevators, the confused looks on their faces were very satisfying. It was clear they thought they had what it took to keep me in check. When I entered the elevator they hastily followed. Some of them I had known very well and were friendly towards me while others had a more hostile attitude.

The meeting itself didn't go really bad. I presented my plan for the company plus the successor to the deceased executives and somehow there wasn't much opposition to my plans. But they were fierce debaters and really wanted to know how I had come to my conclusions before approving any of the plans but once I explained myself they were very friendly. Maybe my view on them had been a bit harsh, or they were biding their time. I didn't mind long about it. I wanted to return to the hospital but first they really wanted my to go around the building so that the employees had seen their new top boss which was something that made sense. But it took an hour and by now it was 8pm already, by now Arthit should have more or less be back from the surgery.
