Absolute Zero

Chapter 9

The next morning Barry and I got coffee before heading to S.T.A.R Labs. After Caitlin checked me over and took 20 different samples, they were testing Barry's sped and ability to multitask. He was playing chess with Dr. Wells, ping pong with Cisco, and operation with Caitlin. I was sitting there at an empty table trying to freeze my coffee without touching it. It was a theory Dr. Wells had that I could project my power.

"This isn't even remotely anatomically correct." Caitlin said getting frustrated at the children's game.

"That's not the point Dr. Snow." Barry said as he flashed over to take his turn. Then he flashed back to ping pong.

"Then what is the point?"

"To have fun."

"And to continue your training by testing the speed of your mind by pushing your ability to multitask." Dr. Wells said and Barry flashed over to take his turn on chess.

"I'm waiting on your Dr. Wells."

"Show off." I mumbled to myself. I checked my phone and saw it was still early so I sent Leonard a message wishing him luck with work today and that I was excited to see him before he left. I had put my suit on already in case something happened. I couldn't sped dress into mine like Barry so normally I wore mine under my clothes.

This went on for a while before Dr. Wells called checkmate on Barry.

"I guess you still have a few things left to learn don't we Mr. Allen?"

Then Cisco's alarm went off and the screen showed something happening in town.

"Armed robbery and 4th and Collins." Cisco said and I pulled my hair up. 

"For the record, I crushed it in operation and ping pong." He sped into his suit and we left.

As Barry ran past the thugs I swung my legs and knocked them out, allowing the guards to be able to do their job as well. Sadly one was shot and Barry circled back for him. I applied pressure to the wound but he was bleeding a lot.

"He needs a doctor." I told Barry. I glanced over at the thug who took his mask off. I instantly recognized him as Leonard. I told myself I needed to focus on the man bleeding in front of me before worrying about that.

"Where's the nearest hospital?" Barry asked over the comms.

"St. Andrews, seven blocks north, two east."

"Call the ER tell them they have an incoming GSW." The sound of motors caught our attention and we saw the crew getting away. Perfect. Instead of going after them Barry and I rushed the man to St. Andrews hospital.

Barry went to meet Joe at the station. He was going to identify Leonard. I sure wasn't going to tell them how I knew him. Joe would absolutely love that. Instead I asked Leonard to meet me somewhere. That it was important. He met me at the coffee shop we had been to yesterday. It had been about three hours since the robbery attempt.

"Becca what's-"

"Something you wanna tell me?" I told him and crossed my arms. We were in the back away from everyone and I kept myself quiet.

"What are you talking about?"

"Leonard Snart right? You come back to the city after you've gotten away from your line of work? Which just so happens to be armed robbery." He was stunned for a moment.

"How-"

"I work at the CCPD, Leonard. I'm not there everyday but I still have friends there, and I do hear things. Like what you do." He took a deep breath.
