Draco enjoyed a quiet weekend in his dorm room. Aside from a short trip to the library to get a few books to study, Draco stayed locked in his room with Blaise, Theo and Daphne. It got a little stuffy, but he liked being safe. He didn't even leave for meals. His friends were nice enough to bring him food in the dorms, just to have some peace and quiet for once.
They all managed to sleep in their own beds on Friday, not that Draco had minded the company. But it was slightly embarrassing to be so clingy. Theo was still recovering from the last few days, too. Blaise actually slept in Theo's bed Saturday, after he woke up screaming. Draco wasn't the only one with nightmares. He either didn't scream or it was not loud or terrified enough to warrant nighttime cuddling.
By Sunday, Draco got caught up on all his homework and even started to read ahead in preparation for his classes. He had a lot of catching up to do. He was sitting on his bed reading ahead in Transfiguration, while Theo and Blaise tried to finish their assignments.
"What'd you put for the fourth question in Charms?" Blaise asked, scratching his head.
"Protego Totalum," Draco replied, not lifting his head from the book.
"You sure?" Theo said, looking at his answers.
"You can go ask Granger if you really wanted to know," Draco grunted, but he was starting to feel nervous.
"Well... I put Protego Maxima... so I was asking," Theo said, grumpy, but turned to Blaise. "You're the tie-breaking vote, Blaise... which should we choose?"
"What? Putting me in the middle? I'll choose Protego Horribilis and really show Flitwick that we don't cheat."
"Does it really matter?" Draco said quietly. They were getting too close.
"I'm sure it will matter to the NEWT examiners," Theo pointed out.
"Alright... why did you pick that one, Dray?"
Draco didn't really want to defend his answer and looked away from Blaise. He started shaking and wrapped his blanket around him. He was always cold. Blaise took it as an invitation to come sit on his bed. Blaise raised his hand to touch Draco's face, but he couldn't help but pull away. Blaise put his hand on his shoulder, instead. Draco trembled under his touch. Blaise was stronger, mentally... physically. He had all the power and that all played a factor in how Draco responded to him. He was in charge, there was no questioning that. Thursday and Friday proved that much. Draco couldn't survive without him.
"Why'd you pick Protego Totalum?" Blaise asked him directly.
"Protego Horribilis is fine," Draco said, not meeting his eyes.
Theo had stopped whatever he was working on and stared at them. He recognized that there was a problem.
"Dray... what's wrong? Why won't you answer?" Blaise asked, staring him down.
Draco started hyperventilating and tightened up, lowering his head from Blaise's eyes. Draco didn't want to challenge him in any way. He started to turn off his emotions, again.
"No, Draco... stay here. Stay focused on me!" Blaise said, grabbing his chin. "Don't close up on me!"
Draco put his head into Blaise's chest and stared sobbing. "Please don't hurt me."
Blaise jumped at his words and rubbed Draco's back. "Dray, I won't hurt you. I promise. I promise!"
Tears welled in his eyes and he hugged Blaise tightly, crying. Unable to stop, he clutched him like his life depended on it.
