Cardfight Vanguard: The Dark Union

Turn 36: Surprise

Star: "So Edge, any idea why they wanted me to grab you?"

It was sometime around sunset, the yellow orb in the sky was falling below the far off mountains, at this point in time barely peaking over it. 

Edge: "No clue, I was hoping you would know." 

Star nodded and continued on his way to Carol's apartment, where he was meant to drop Edge off. 

Star: "Hey Edge? Guess what?"

Edge: "Hm, what?"

Star: "Nicole beat me in a Cardfight today, she's really growing huh?"

Edge: "Really? Yeah I guess she has, but so have you, more or less so anyway."

Star: "What do you mean? I don't think I've changed one bit."

Edge: "You've got to be kidding me right? Maybe something is wrong with that brain of yours but you've grown. You aren't slumping over and trying to hide your face, you aren't pissed off but rather calm right now. You've also cut your hair so you look less like a child."

Star blushed and narrowed his eyes, "HEY!" He yelled at Edge, causing them both to stop and look at each other, a gentle breeze blowing their hair and coats in a subtle way. They stood there for a while before breaking out in laughter.

Star: "I guess you're right. Still, I don't feel any different."

Edge: "That's the thing Star, you might not notice the change, but others have definitely seen it."

Edge smiled over at his friends, remembering the time Star first walked into Card Universe looking for his backpack; back then he wasn't as tall as Edge and avoided as much interaction as possible, but now he stood tall and is considered Edge's greatest rival.

Edge: "Hey, how about a cardfight when we get back, sound like an idea?"

Star nodded and walked up to Edge, hitting Edge's forearm with his own, smiling while he did so. 

Star: "Hell yeah, and I swear I'll win this time."

Edge: "Sure you will, and that's when I start playing Royal Paladins."

Behind them their specific Dark Union members formed, smiling and staring at the other with determination. 

Seth: "Remember Star, I'm a part of you now, so by challenging Edge to a fight that's the same as me challenging Kage."

Kage: "That's right, let's see if you can keep up with us Seth, we won't lose."

An aura wrapped around Star and Edge, this aura coming from the Dark Union members. A golden light for Star and purple darkness for Edge.

???: "You two gonna fight? Well, I can't miss that."

???: "Neither can I, I have a feeling this'll be epic."

???: "You got that right, anything with them seems to never be boring."

???: "Yeah, I have that feeling too. Do your best Star!"

Star and Edge turned around to see their friends approaching: Ralph, Sally, Cass, and Skye.

Star: "Hey guys, good to see you Skye."

Star walked up to them with Edge close behind. Star stopped in front of Skye and placed a hand on her head, smiling down at the smaller person.

Skye: "Good to see you too Star."

Skye grabbed Star's jacket and pulled him down to capture him in a kiss. The others laughed when they saw Star's shocked expression.

Edge: "Anyway, yeah, Star and I will have a fight, and I don't plan on losing."
