Chapter One:
I yawned tiredly as I grabbed my car keys from the door. Well, not really grabbed. More like made it float directly to me as I grabbed it out of the air.
That's right, I had telekinesis powers. It's already been 3 years since I first got them, and I'm pretty sure I've got excellent control over my abilities.
Obviously, I wasnt going to go around telling people about it, so I only used it when I was out of sight. Not my best friend Carmen, not Brian Foxx- a guy in my math class thats steadily becoming my second best friend- and not even my loving parents.
I was seriously afraid of what the governement or literally, anyone, would do if they knew I could lift actual cars and tons of weight. Yeah, I knew how to lift them. Took a hell of a lot of practice, but I guess it seriously paid off in the end.
After grabbing my keys I yanked on my hoodie and opened the door, letting the chill air wash over me. Winter just ended and it was still a little bit chilly.
I bounded down the steps after locking the door, and opened my car. Turning on the engine, I drove off to my highschool, St. Johnathans.
"Truth Hurts," by Lizzo played on the radio as I mouthed the words.
The corners of my lips turned upwards when I had a quick realization.
Today was literally the day I got my power, and it was also a day all the grade nine's would not be present. Although grade eights would come, which was a way worse.
I sighed as I turned the music up and started actually singing.
"Yeah, I got boy problems, that's the human in me..."
———
"Elias!" I turned around as I heard a familiar voice call out to me.
Right in front of me was a girl running in my direction. She had long blonde hair that curled nicely around her shoulders. She had pale skin and unnaturally long eyelashes. Was she wearing mascara today? We both knew she was basically allergic to anything near her eyes.
"-IAS! Elias are you even listening to me?," she yelled in my face when she finally got close enough to. This, ladies and gentlemen, was my best friend of about five years. We met on the highschool headstart trip and we've been best friends ever since.
"Good morning, Carmen."
"Did you see the news last night?"
What was up with people not saying good morning back? Manners, much.
"Yeah," I said, you know, like a liar.
Carmen crossed her arms and huffed in anoyance.
"Do you remember the new super that debuted about two months ago? Black Shadow?"
"...Who?"
"Elias! Why do you never watch the news! Black Shadow is the weird super that only works at night. Y'know? Black ensemble, to-die-for tan skin, defined features, awesome shadow wings?"
"Wow Carmen, watch the way you describe him or I might start thinking you're straight," I muttered quietly under my breath.
Well, maybe not quietly enough. Carmen huffed again and smacked me in the arm.
"Elias! Shut up! Just because I'm a lesbian doesnt mean I can't tell when a guys hot! Anyways, Black Shadow has been seen here. Check twitter," she said bossily.
