Chapter Two:
"Black Shadow?," I didnt even realize I said that outloud until he replied. I couldnt believe it, why was he even here?
"That's what they call me," he said, cocking an eyebrow upwards, still pointedly looking at my jacket.
"So, are you gonna respond to my question? Are you making it float?," he said after I didnt respond.
I could feel my face flush heavily as I dropped my coat out of pure embarrasement, making it fall over me, effectively blinding me as the fabric pooled over my face. There was no way I was going to tell him about my powers.
"What? What're you talking about?" I spat as I quickly lifted the fabric away my eyes.
"Is your power gravity?," he droned on, completely ignoring my protests.
How rude.
"No! I dont have any powers! You must've been seeing something different, I just fell," I could tell he wasnt buying it. Why was he even here?
"So gravity, is it?" He said, ignoring me again. I noticed he reached his hand out, probably to help me up or something. I scoffed. Who did he think I was, a teenage girl excited at seeing a super? No way.
I shoved his hand out of my personal space and got up on shaky knees. Why was he even here again?
"I was on patrol. No one should be outside on a storm that's steadily increasing in power. I saw you and flew down when I noticed you tripped, and saw the coat floating above you," I sputtered indignantly. Could he read minds? I tried broadcasting the rudest thing possible.
For some reason Black Shadow decided whatever just happened was oh-so hilarious and laughed. Prick.
"I dont think you noticed but you're saying your thoughts outloud," he looked down at me and smirked. Did I mention how much I hate supers? I hope he chokes on dog hair or something equally disgusting.
"Whatever!" I sneered and tried shoving past him, but my small stature wouldnt let me. He was broad shouldered and a good head or so taller than me.
Damn, what'd this guy eat? I could use some of it.
However my awe in him was short lived as he swiftly picked me up bridal-style and shot up into the air, in the direction I was walking towards. Now, I don't usually tell people about my fears because it could come back to bite me right in the behind, but I'm regretting to not mention how much I hated heights.
I'm not embarassed to say I yelled profanities that would make a sailor proud. Who did he think he was? Kidnapping helpless teens like this! I gritted my teeth and really considered filling a police report.
The only thing that kept me from purely fainting on the spot was throwing my arms around his shoulders and grabbing as much fabric as I could as I kept my eyes off the ground.
"Let go of me! Put me down!" I tried to sound commanding, but that didnt work seeing as my voice was trembling. It's not my fault heights are terrifying to me!
Thankfully, Black Shadow seemed to get the point and slowed down, although that didnt help much because it intensified the idea of how high I was. He looked down at me and sighed. Frowning, he asked me a question.
