- Violet-

The trunk of a car was not a fun place to ride, there was no room, it smelled weird, and for a while a was freaking out because it felt like I couldn't breath even though I could.

I though about Klaus and Sunny. And Isadora and Duncan. Oh I missed them so much. But this was the only way I knew to keep them safe. Count Olaf would stop at nothing for our fortune, we had learned that much by now.

I thought back to Klaus, mother would be so proud of him, using his research to get us out of more than one bad place.

I thought about Sunny, father would be so proud of her, mother too, learning how to talk, being able to live through Count Olaf's wrath in her young life. I smiled at the thought of them being safe.

And then I thought about Duncan. He was one of the only friends I had ever had outside of my family. I hadn't gotten along very well with kids at school, and none of them seemed to like me. But Duncan did. I hadn't wanted to leave him, but I had to save my siblings, and he couldn't very well come with me.

The trunk finally opened, sunlight filling up the space where only shadows had been before.

The White faced ladies pulled me out and I could hear Esme talking to Count Olaf a few feet away. "She's taking up space where my bags should be!" Esme cried.

Could Olaf shook his head, "She's the key to our fortune!"

"I have an enormous fortune!" Esme yelled.

Count Olaf glowered at her. "Not. Big. Enough."

I tried my best not to be noticed. It was better id Esme didn't see me right now. Crack! I looked up. Esme had slapped Count Olaf! A big angry welt grew on his cheek.

"YOU BITCH!" Count Olaf yelled, stepping forward.

The Hook handed man stepped forward but Count Olaf shook him off. "We're. Through." Count Olaf said to Esme.

" Fine!" Esme shouted. "Great!"

Count Olaf turned and grabbed me ruffly by the arm, pulling towards a huge hospital.

He swung open the doors and shouted at his troupe. "Sigh us all in!" Before he left, pulling me along with him.

He pulled me through hallways, down corridors, and through different rooms, only half of the rooms looked like they were finished. Once we went into a patents room that had malaria.

Finally, we stopped in front of a door, Count Olaf opened it, it was a broom closet. He pushed me inside. " We'll find you a more accommodating space when we take over the hospital." He said, before shutting the door
in my face. I heard the click of a lock and footsteps outside the door before silence.
