- Duncan-

Me and Violet are getting jobs today. Was my first thought as I woke up.

Gods. Life shouldn't be this hard.

We should have parents, and a real home, and we should go to school.

Technically, me and Violet were old enough for jobs. That wasn't the problem. The problem was the fact that Count Olaf had tracked them down every time they got away and getting a job made it more risky.

I headed down stairs and made breakfast. Four omelets and a very crispy waffle for Sunny. She couldn't have carrots all the time. Crispy would have to do. Knowing her she wouldn't wan't syrup either.

We ate in silence. We all knew that just stepping out of the house was dangerous, but getting a job. That was like having a death wish.

I had to admit. I was scared. But, not really for myself, more for Violet. Count Olaf hunted the Baudelaire's. Not me and Isadora. At least not so far, who knows what he'll do now that he's seen us.

Me and Violet headed out. Our work place interviews were on the same street, which, I had to admit, made me feel better.

I hugged Violet goodbye and headed into the town's newspaper company building.

The interview went quickly, at least to me, they asked me the normal things, and I answered as calmly as I could. When they asked my age, I said eighteen instead of sixteen, just to be safe, and gave them a fake name to use. To them, I was Julian Evergreen.

- Violet-

I hugged Duncan goodbye and old him good luck before going inside the repair shop.

The interview went well, I think. And I told them I was seventeen and gave a fake name. I was Emma Whole from San Antonio Texas and I had just moved here.

I really hope I got the job.
