This is another weird chapter, but still a necessary one.

***

I groggily open my eyes, but everything is all blurry. I know that I'm lying in a bed--one that is vaguely familiar. After wiping my eyes, I take a good look around. This looks like a Trancy room. Why would Sebastian bring me here? Did he really feel so guilty that he could not bare to look at me while I heal? Has he left me in the care of another demon? I run my fingers through my hair--or at least, I attempt to. Sebastian must have cut my hair. He also must have bathed me, for I no longer smell like that wretched perfume that Viscount Druitt always had me wear.

I attempt to sit up, but the sharp pain in my upper abdomen causes me to shrink back immediately. Looking down, I see fresh bandages begin to stain red. I really am too careless. Ignoring the pain, I sit up slowly and swing my legs off the side of the bed. So...I have been left alone in the Trancy estate once again? Whose foolish idea was it this time? Perhaps Ciel had me sent here because he didn't like how much Sebastian was worrying. It would make sense...I suppose. Ciel has always been kind of a dick. Then again...everyone I have come to surround myself with has been a dick at one point or another.

Slowly, I extend my legs forward until my feet touch the cool, wooden floor. I push myself off of the bed a little and use the momentum to balance myself into a standing position. My body feels weaker than it should. I must have been asleep for a few days. "I guess I better find Sebastian," I mutter to myself.

"I'm afraid you won't be finding that particular demon anywhere around here," someone calls to me from the doorway. It's just Claude. "You've gotten yourself into quite the mess now, haven't you, (y/n)." He sends me a subtle smirk and steps into the room. "You're very lucky that Michaelis had weakened his throw when he saw you move in front of your...father. If he had been using his full strength, those knives would have flown through your soft body with little struggle."

Claude takes a minute or two to tell me how lucky I am that I can weaken the will of demons. Normally, I would be mildly interested. But his pompous tone is irking this wounded halfbreed. "Where's Sebastian?" I ask him just to get him to shut up.

Claude glares at me for a moment but quickly regains his facade. "Mr. Michaelis will not be allowed near you as long as you remain in this estate."

"What? Why?"

"It has been commanded by my Master."

"What? But Sebastian doesn't listen to Alo--"

"Oh dear, that is my Master calling me now. I will return in a moment with some lunch for you." He gives me a curt bow and walks off.

It's not that I don't love Claude as dearly as I always have. He's just...acting differently than he had before. Something has happened. Something has changed him. I let out a heavy sigh, taking a look out the window. For some unknown reason, the window has been barred. It's as though I were a prisoner. "What the hell is Trancy doing here?"

Someone's staring at my back--staring through my back--with the strength of three pairs of eyes. "Thompson and Company?" I ask lightly. The purple-headed Sebastians look at me with empty stares before they make their way into my room. "Is there something you need?"

Cantebury extends his hand to me in his typical silence. Hesitantly, I take it--and I regret it immediately. He grips my wrist tightly and Thompson takes the other while Timber unravels my bandages. At first it makes no sense that the three of them are here to change my bandages. But then Timber actually removes it where my blood has clotted. Whoever had wrapped me in this stuff earlier did a shitty job. They have left me screaming in pain and bleeding profusely as my wounds are reopened.
