Chapter 1

"Skyler... Hurry up, geez! We are going to be late for the party!"

"Well im sorry sir for having to walk down these stairs in these heels that you made me wear!"

I finally reached the bottom of the stairs and my sister punched me in the shoulder.

Oh the sisterly love.

We are half sisters but we look nothing alike. Im 18 and she is 25, turning 26 at the end of the year.

We got in her white car and drove off to some resturant for a party. She turned on the music and started singing along to it. My sister was actually a decent singer. I pulled my phone out because i got a notification for the date: April 3rd. Its funny, my family makes this day a big deal but its really not. To me its just another boring old, non meaningful day.

"Are you excited?" My sister said, glancing over at me.

"Actually Ripley... Im kind of happy someone dragged me out of the house to do something. Thanks..."

"No problem. Just let me know when you want to do something."

"Okay..." I looked out of my window hoping it would end the conversation that was about to be awkward.

I was not looking forward to the party. There was going to be alot of people in the restaurant considering that it was a friday night. I really dislike crowds. Im the type of person that would rather sit at home and relax than go to a cuckoo party. The last time I went to a party like that I got locked in a closet by some drunk idiots. I was in there for about 5 hours. Not. Fun.

'Skyler stop... Be an optimist about this. At least someone cares about you. Just think that the day is half full of happiness instead of half empty. You need to be more grateful for what you have.' (That is a thought by the way)

I laid my head back, put in my ear buds and put the music on shuffle. Ironically enough the song that came on was "Aftermath" by Adam Lambert. The song is perfect because I know that I'll be alright in the aftermath of this night.

I kept my phone out as we drove down the road. I scrolled through Twitter as I got a notification from my "bæ"

"@ ADAMLAMBERT : Finally arrived in LA! It's been such a stress full day. Gonna relax tonight!"

I smile at the fact that he's in the same city as me. It's a nice little energy booster ya know..?
