"And we are here," Adam says as he pulls up in front of my house. I take a deep breathe, bracing myself for the unknown.

"Thanks for taking me camping. I had fun and it was a lot better than just sitting around all day," I say with a smile.

"Well I'm glad you liked it."

I turn back around to get out of the car when Adam locks the door. I turn back around and give him a questioning look.

"What are you doing?" He says innocently.

"Uh, what are YOU doing? I would like to exit your car, please."

"Not without a goodbye hug," he raises his arms and I accept his gesture. I give him a hug and turn to leave but he won't unlock the door.

"I'm still not done," he states with a smirk.

"Well whataya want from me?" I don't say, I sing.

"Just remember that if you need anything, just call me. I'll always be here for you. Also you've got some skills."

"Thanks," I give him a smile mixed with some blush and finally leave the car. I walk inside my house and it's pretty quite until I walk over to my stairs. My father is standing there, blocking my way.

"Uh, hi."

"Where exactly were you last night?" He says, the scent of alcohol flowing from his breath.

"Kennedy's house with everyone else," I lie.

"Oh really, well she told me that you weren't with her."

"Oh really, well she didn't tell me that you called her last night. That would've been the first thing she would've done," I retort back while actually telling the truth. She would've called me. Apparently, we are both lying here.

"Alright, who is he guy that brought you home just now?"

"One of Alexis's friends."

"Bullshit," he claims.

"True story," I state. Adam and Alexis are decent friends now.

"What is his name?"

"Mitchel. Why are you asking me so many questions?" I snap back.

"Well, for some reason... I don't trust you anymore. Ever since you turned 18 you have been awfully shitty with me. What have you been doing with your so called friends?"

"Oh, so now you start caring. You think I'm getting in trouble so you decide to become a responsible parent. You're going to convince me to stop what I'm not doing so you don't get in trouble. So you won't go to jail and my mother gains full custody. That's the reason isn't it? Your just afraid to go back to the so called hell hole of prison. Isn't it?"

I shove past him and walk up the stairs. I reach the top stair when glass shatters against the wall next to me. I let out a scream of fear and pain. There was blood running down my leg, starting at a piece of green glass. I look down the stairs to see shards of a beer bottle surrounding an infuriated man. I take refuge in my room, locking the door and stuffing things into a bag. I hear a large bang that makes me flinch. I look behind me to see that he broke down the door. The man grabs me from behind and I scream for help. I tense up when I hear another smash of a bottle. His arms release and he collapses to the floor. I look up from his body to see Adam with half a bottle in his bleeding hand. I fling the bag onto my shoulders and escort Adam to the bathroom. I bandage up his hand with tissues and we run out of the house. He starts up the ignition and drive away from here.

"Holy shit! Are you okay?" He asks with a concerned look. I'm confused for a moment until I remember that there is glass sticking out of my leg. The adrenaline made me totally forget that I was wounded.

I nod in response and ask him a question, keeping my mind off of the sudden pain. "Where are we going?"

"We're going back to my place. Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yes and please shut up about it or I'll start to cry," I plead, my voice cracking. "How did you know something was wrong?"

"I got out to see if my tire was low on air because it felt weird while I was driving. It was fine and I was about to get back in until I got this horrible feeling. I stood there and I heard your scream, that's when I ran to help you."

"Thank you for being there," I choke out as we pull up to a red light. I feel a year roll down my face as I close my eyes to ignore the mix of feelings. I feel the tear get wiped away so I open my eyes to find Adam's hand holding my cheek. I grab ahold of his hand and let another tear escape. He pulls me into his arms and I force my self to stop. I eventually calm down while in his embrace.

"Thank you, Adam."
