"You've got to be kidding me!" I yell as I slam my fists on the steering wheel. Today's been such a shit day. First I wake up from a nightmare. Then I find out Adam's sick. And now I'm just tryna be a good person and the universe says "No bitch," with a sassy little snap. It's only noon and I'm already done.I sit for about 10 minutes until the traffic starts to move again. Apparently there was a wreck that wasn't even a bad wreck. From what I can tell, someone ran into the back of someone else's car and they had to make a big scene about it. I just really hate people sometimes.
So FINALLY, after driving for 30 minutes in stop and go traffic, I made it to the store. As I pull into the parking lot I find that it's really crowded. I just scoff and make my way inside. As I get in I realize why there's so many people. Halloween is a month away and people are already scrambling to get ready. Once again... Sometimes I really hate people.
I head over to the pharmacy to get some medicine for Adam. I look for some cough medicine first and I can't find any. There is literally none. So then I look for cold medicine, thinking that it may help with the cough as well. I find a box if cold medicine and it helps coughs but I costs $12. That's fucking insane! I'm not paying that much!
Eventually I give up and ask for some help. The employee was working at the pharmacy so I had to wait in line to get some help. While I was waiting and my social anxiety was building, I decided to eaves drop on some conversations. I know it's rude but why not. I'll probably never see these people again any how.
"How can I help you?" The cashier/pharmacy guy asks.
"My son needs his prescription refilled." The lady says in a rude tone.
"Um okay... Can I see your ID the receipt for the medicine?" He asks, offended by her rudeness.
"Do you really think I'm trying to get these drugs illegally? Why do you need my ID?" The fuck is her problem?
"It's mandatory for everyone ma'am." This poor guy. I feel so bad for him.
After they quarrel for a good 5 minutes, the lady finally moves on to more shopping. I step up to the counter and the guy walks up to me.
"Hello, it'll just be minute. I'm going on break so someone else will be here to help you okay?"
"Okay," I say shyly. To be honest, this guy was kinda cute. Brown hair and green eyes. Slight southern accent. He's considered attractive in my book. As he walks away another guy walks up and I groan as I recognize him.
"Hello, how c- Skyler?" He says and he pushes his hair out of his eyes.
"Hi Mason." This is gonna be really awkward.
"Hey... So uh how can I help you?" Yep it's awkward.
"Um I can't find any cough medicine and I was wondering if there is any in stock?" I say as I duck my head down. Please let this end quickly.
"Uh let me check.." And he walks away. I watch as he turns a corner but looks back at me. Ew. I pull out my phone to distract myself but it doesn't take long.
"Is this it?" He shows me the bottle and I nod. I give him my money for it and I try to retreat but he stops me.
"Uh can I talk to you for a second?"
"I'm really in a hurry. Adam's at home and he's sick and I really need to get back to him."
"I'll only take a second."
I sigh and nod my head. His eyes fill with excitement as he walks out from behind the counter. "Can we talk outside?" He adds."I guess." I follow him outside and I takes us to the back of the building. There's a few people on break back there so I'm not worried. He sits down at a bench and I follow his actions.
"So uh... I just want to apologize... For graduation and everything,"he says as guilt spreads across his face.
I just stayed silent. I'm not taking that as an apology.
"... It was really stupid of me to let you go like that. When I first found out that you liked me, didn't like you back because you were known as the freak. You always came to school with bruises and torn clothes. Back then we just thought that you were gross and unkempt. But now that we've grown up... I know why you were like that. And I'm sorry for that. And I'm sorry for bullying you and adding onto your problems."
I had nothing to say. I still didn't forgive him. He made my life 50 times worse than it already was. And I still hate him for that.
"On the last day of school I saw you walking in the hall and I got mesmerized. The way that your hair flowed back as you gracefully walked. The beautiful color in your eyes lit up as you past windows. That's when I realize that I was wrong all along." As he says this his eyes change from a dull brown to a lighter color. Does he actually mean this?
"Uh... Thanks I guess," I said awkwardly. I'm not giving into him.
"But I guess you and Adam are a thing... Right?"
"Um... Not really..." I mean are we a thing? He's not my boyfriend but he does boyfriend things with me and maybe he is..? "Well, yeah I guess we are."
Mason sits back and sighs. He pulls out his phone from his pocket and hangs his head low. "I didn't want to do this but," he says as he stands up.
I stand up aswell, thinking that he had to go back to work. He walks over to me and holds his hand to my cheek. Our eyes connect and he starts to lean in. I lean away and pull my arms up to push him back.
When I do, my hand brushes something sharp. I violently push him back and I look down at his hand. Within it is a syringe filled with a light blue liquid. He's going to kill me.
I take a step back and turn on my heel. I start sprinting towards the front of the building and I notice that no one is out here. I start to panic.
The sound of my heart beat is as loud as the footsteps behind me. I don't dare to look back because if I do I'll subconsciously slow down. The adrenaline starts kicking in and my speed grows.
As I turn the first corner I run into a person. Their arms wrap around me as we fall to the ground. I try to jump back up but I can't. The person is holding me against the ground.
As I struggle to break free I realize who's pinning me down. Sauli.
"Mason?! Hurry up!" He yells.
"HELP! SOMEONE PLEA.." I manage to scream until Sauli sticks a cloth in my mouth. I watch in horror as Mason jogs around the corner. He drops to the ground beside us and I struggle against their grip.
He takes out the syringe and stabs it into my neck. As he does I move and I feel immense pain. The needle drags through my skin as the liquid fills my veins. Instantly my breathing changes and everything starts to fade. I feel them pick me up and drop me on something.
"Damn... Mason... You slit... She's dying!" I hear in parts as my senses starts going in and out. Am I really dying?
