"Hey Adam, where are the fireworks?" I yell.

"I think they are still in the car," he yells from outside. I groan and run down the stairs to retrieve them.

Today is the anniversary of the day America gained it's independence. It's July 4th and Adam decided to host a party at his house. He figured it would be fun since a lot of his friends and family have not visited at his new house. Also he figured it would be a good way to announce that he would be going on tour next year. But if course he decided this 4 days ago. Ever since then we have been running around like chickens with their heads cut off, trying to prepare for this party.

I grab the fireworks out if the car and check to see if there is anything else I can carry up. I didn't see anything else so I grabbed the bag of fireworks and headed back upstairs. Luckily we didn't have too many because Adam asked for people to bring their own fireworks. We know that Tommy will bring some so at least there will be some sort if show.

As I carry the fireworks up the stairs I hear Adam yelling for help. I drop them on a table and run out back to see what's wrong. When I get there I find Adam standing on a ladder holding an American flag above the doorway.

"Can you get me another piece of tape?"

I roll my eyes and rip off a piece for him.

"Why are you even putting up this  flag anyway. Do you realize how difficult it's gonna be to get it down?"

"It won't be that difficult," he says, taking the tape and sticking it to the flag and the wall.

"Okay, but mark my words Lambert." I wall back inside and start unwrapping the food we made the night before. It's all of the food that could be refrigerated. We figured it would be best to grill the food while everyone was her so it was still hot.

Take my phone out of my pocket and realize that people should be here at any minute. It's surprisingly already 5:30.

As soon as I think that someone starts walking up the stairs from the garage.

"I guess the party can start since I walked in!"

"Well Tommy you are the first person here and it's exactly 8:30," I tell him.

"We're here!" I turn around to find the Cherry's walking down the hall towards us.

Riff runs up to Tommy and gives him a hug. I greet the Cherry's and before I know it, Adam's house is filled with people. I file the young  people outside and let the older peoples stay inside.

There are people everywhere. I didn't think Adam would invite a lot of people but he did. Too many people. Thank The Lord that we invited people to come over at 8:30 instead of earlier. If we had people come over at 6 we would have had to make food for everyone. I'm just happy that we only invited people over for fireworks.

I hear a loud voice and I look behind me. It's Adam standing on his balcony, yelling for attention.

"Hello everyone! So are going to light the fireworks at 9:30. That gives us about 30 minutes to prepare. Thank you to everyone who brought some pretty gunpowder. I hope you guys enjoy the show!" He steps back into the house and disappears.

I lean back against the wall behind me. Watching all of these people have conversation is kind of bizarre to me. So many different opinions and thoughts are being shared at this moment in time. I don't know... It's just crazy to me.

"Hey Skyler, come her please." I feel a hand wrap around my hand. I get pulled into the house and end up standing in front of Adam.

"I'm gonna need your help with the fireworks. We ended up with more than I excepted."

"Well that's great isn't it? The mor the merrier." I walk up stairs and find quite a few fireworks. Adam and I use our brains and put together a show. By the time we finish it's 5 minutes until take off. We stand at the edge of the balcony and grab everyone's attention.

"We've got 5 minutes until the firework show and there is something I want to tell you all," Adam says. "My latest album, The Original High, has down very well in the music industry. And because Of that I am happy to announce that there will be another world wide tour!"

The crowd in the backyard cheers, a few people yelling about how proud they are.

I look over at Adam and he's smiling wide, feeling accomplished.

I look at my phone and realize that we have 1 minute left. I pull Adam out if his trance and start lighting the fireworks.

Before we know it the sky explodes with color. Green sparkles, neon blue shapes, red love hearts and white glimmering fireworks that make a whistling sound. The loud booms of the gunpowder colliding with fire could be felt in your chest. That is one of the most memorable feelings to me. It reminds if the happy days as a child. The good ol' times.

The show goes on for about 10 minutes. After the popping ends we hear applause from the small crowns below. Then suddenly I hear another pop that makes me jump out of my skin.

Everyone's else that lived in the valley below us began shooting of their fireworks. The sight was beautiful.

"The show must go on," I say. Adam looks down at me smiling once more.

"Oh how lovely my Queen." He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me into his chest.

Happy Birthday America!
