As summer started, preparation for the upcoming interhigh also intensified. Instead of the usual 3 trainings per week, trainings were upgraded to nearly everyday. Akaashi would be put in the first five during the interhighs, since everyone in the team could not deny the chemistry Akaashi and Bokuto had. Trainings were longer too. The volleyball members now often reached home between nine to ten each night.
Even though the weeks were hectic, everyone did not mind, they all loved volleyball. Only Bokuto complained often.
Somewhere during the training sessions, Bokuto realised that the chances of his cross spikes getting blocked were now higher. He went into dejected mode very often. But nobody, including Akaashi, had to mood to listen to his complains. They just ignored him and continued their vigorous practice.
Although Akaashi ignored Bokuto when he threw tantrums during trainings, Akaashi would spend his free time watching interviews from famous volleyball players and watching volleyball matches just so he could help Bokuto find a way to solve the problem.
He would collect the data and tell Bokuto to try out the methods.
Most methods did not work without much practice. To encourage Bokuto, Akaashi would practice with Bokuto on weekends.
Bokuto widens his eyes in joy as the ball whizzes past the blockers and hits the floor on the other side. His straight spike worked.
"Akaaaaaahhhhshiiii. I did it!" Bokuto runs to Akaashi and throws his arms around the 16 year old. "Yes. Yes. I saw, Bokuto-san. Well done." Seeing Bokuto's thrilled face was all Akaashi needed as thanks.
Thanks to Akaashi, Bokuto started to have more interest in volleyball too, much to everyone's amazement and relief.
