"Akaashi! Let's go for the new year shrine visit together tomorrow!" Bokuto had chirped as the two volleyball members walked home from practice. Akaashi nods in response, "What time?" "Uh...I'll come pick you up at 10am!" It wouldn't be hard to find Akaashi's house since Bokuto knows Akaashi's address. "Bokuto-san it's fine. You can just wait for me at the station." The second years had told him that Bokuto had a horribly poor sense of direction. He did not want to end up having to search for Bokuto instead. Plus, he did not want his dad to know about Bokuto.

"But Agaashii... I want to see how your house looks like."

"Another time Bokuto-san. But for now, it would be bad if you got lost and I have to search for you."

Bokuto gasps and acts out a dramatic scene, expressing his shock and hurt.

Akaashi shakes his head. "Bokuto-san I'm going to leave you behind."

Bokuto quickly chases after Akaashi.

The shrine is terribly crowded which is within Akaashi's expectations. He knows many people like the tradition of shrine visiting, although he had never actually done this before. At least not on new year's day.

Both slowly walk through the crowd, hands intertwined. They do not want to lose each other, plus with the crowd, they doubt anyone would notice their hands.

"This feels like a date!" Bokuto cheerfully whispers to Akaashi as they make their way to the shrine's bell. "It is, clueless Bokuto-san." Akaashi bluntly replies with a small smile playing on his lips.

Akaashi rings the bell, claps his hands and prays. "What did you wish for?" Bokuto chirps beside him, having finished the ritual before Akaashi. "Bokuto-san, they say that if one reveals his wish, it won't come true." Bokuto pouts but accepts the reasoning. He had wanted to share with Akaashi his new year wish for them to do well in spring interhigh. Knowing Akaashi, Akaashi highly likely prayed for the same thing.

Akaashi however had wished for something else. He knew the simple minded Bokuto would wish to win the spring interhigh since he had been training so hard for it. But to win a competition mainly focuses on skills. To maintain a long lasting relationship, on the other hand, is something one really had to pray for.

To cheer Bokuto up, Akaashi once again intertwines their fingers together. The two walk out of the crowd, hand in hand.
