Just like a child, Bokuto has a big mouth. He has never been one to keep a secret. When he had gotten a girlfriend, he told a lot of people about it. So when he broke up with Ito and started a new relationship with Akaashi, people were bound to know about it.

Bokuto knows he cannot tell others about his lover. In Japan, same sex relationships are not very openly accepted. Teenagers might be more open minded to these topics but there is still a fair share of those who object. He made sure to pay special attention when talking to anyone about Akaashi or just his daily life.

It was just a slip of the tongue. "...Then Akaaahshi passed me my present. I was so happy! We walked home holding hands--" Bokuto suddenly stops, realising his mistake. "...So that's how I got the present from Akaahshi! Look! It's thigh high kneepads!" Bokuto quickly changes the topic to divert his team mates attention to his brand new kneepads. The second years briefly glanced at the kneepads before giving each other looks. They had all heard what Bokuto said. Sarukui casually puts his arm over Bokuto's shoulder, "Bokuto. I'm pretty sure I heard you say something about holding hands..." The other second years nod in agreement.

Everyone had the same idea. They now had precious teasing material on Bokuto. It would be repayment for all the trouble Bokuto had brought them with his fluctuating moods.

Bokuto turns slightly red and he does everything he can to deny that he said that. "...No...Akaashi and I aren't dating..."

"Ah. I didn't say you and Akaashi-kun were dating. What were you thinking?" Sarukui smirks, "Are you guys actually dating?" Bokuto turns very red. In that moment, the second years knew that they had hit the nail on the head.

The second years aren't people to keep secrets either. Soon, the rumor spread to the 1st years as well as some of the third years of the volleyball team.

At some point of time, Akaashi realised that Bokuto had spilled the beans of their relationship. He could tell. Some of the members would come up to him to congratulate him, and the second years would sometimes "advise" him on Bokuto, also saying things like "It's been hard on you."

Akaashi does not really mind. As long as their team relationship is not affected or at stake.
