"Father, I'm coming home." Akaashi answers the moment he hears someone on the other end pick up the phone.
"Finally got sick of your love game didn't you?"
Sighing, Akaashi replies, "You can think whatever suits you." Then, he ends the call, afraid that if the conversation were to last any longer, he might lose his composure.
He sighs once again and turns around to face his fidgeting boyfriend, "Bokuto-san, let's go."
Bokuto bolts up, causing his knees to buckle under the sudden movement. Bokuto's clumsiness brings a small smile to Akaashi's previous poker face.
Picking himself up, Bokuto grins, "I hope we can find a great present for your father."
"I'm sure we will."
Not long after, the two boys reach the market.
They walk through rows and rows of colourful fruits as they search for the perfect present. The myraid of colours gives Bokuto an idea.
"Ne, Akaashi. Why don't we make a hamper for your father?"
"Mhm. Sounds good." Without hesitation, Akaashi agrees.
The two boys set out to look for the freshest fruits in store.
Soon, both of them leave the market hands full of bags with fruit and a basket. The fruits looked so good they couldn't resist but buy some for Mr and Mrs Bokuto too.
Bokuto stops by the flower shop on the way home, buying a bouquet of beautifully wrapped flowers.
Akaashi looked pretty interested in the flowers while Bokuto picked a bouquet to purchase, which gave Bokuto the idea of teasing him as they got out. "I'll buy you a bouquet next time." He had said as they walked out of the store, earning a slight blush from Akaashi.
After spending an hour trying to wrap the hamper, the boys took a taxi over to Akaashi's residence.
Akaashi unlocks the door and steps in with Bokuto following closely behind. They come face to face with Akaashi Ichirou in the living room.
"What took you so long?" The man shoots a questioning look at his son. Then, he turns and eyes Bokuto with a condescending look.
Bokuto ignores the look and puts the hamper on the coffee table right in front of them, "Akaashi-san, we were wrapping a hamper for you. Please accept it."
Bokuto protectively ushers Akaashi behind him and continues, "I apologise if I have offended you in any way but I simply cannot let my treasured person have such a father that only cares about image and profits."
He gives a 90 degree bow and quickly gets back up.
"Even so..." He turns to look at Akaashi, who offers him an encouraging smile, "I hope you'll give us your blessings... I truly love him... So please give me a chance!"
He gives a another full bow.
Akaashi silently stands behind Bokuto with a small smile of pride, reaching out his hand to intertwine their fingers together.
"Father... I really want to be with him... Please give us your blessings!" Akaashi too, positions himself to give a full bow.
"Enough with the bows," Startled by his father's sudden response, Akaashi hurriedly glances up, "Don't come to me crying if you two break up."
He switches his gaze to Bokuto before continuing, "And you better not do anything to harm him..."
"Thank you!" Bokuto immediately chirps and Akaashi breaks into a bright grin.
Akaashi Ichirou cannot help but smile a little at his son's innocent expression. It had been a long time since he had seen the boy smile.
The young couple's reaction also evoked some pleasant memories from a very long time ago...
