Will was at his place the next day and he couldn't stop smiling. Summer was ending and he was gonna have to go back to school soon, but he still couldn't help being happy as fuck. Mike and him had held hands for 71 minutes. Had it been a dream?

After the movie ended their moment ended too, but Will hadn't stopped thinking about it since, and he was sure Mike hadn't either –even if it was in a different way. He wasn't sure why he'd grabbed his hand, but he for sure wasn't gonna complain.

He was starting to have actual hope even if odds weren't exactly by his side: his friend was heterosexual and had already rejected him. He couldn't help but think that the only reason Mike had held his hand was because he was starting to like him though. It was as if there were two Wills: the Will who thought he had no chances with Mike, and the Will who had hope.

The phone rang and Dustin ran to it. "Hello?" he breathlessly replied from the run. "Dustin, we're going to the swimming pool, so get ready, Lucas and I are gonna pick you up in 10 with Steve's car," Max said, as always, not giving any choice to him.

"To the swimming pool? Why can't we go to the arcade?" Dustin replied, thinking of the cute girl he'd seen there. "Because we can go to the arcade on winter, but we can only go to the swimming pool during summer, and summer's almost over. Get ready," she said, and she hung up.

Dustin let out a disappointed sigh. Was he never gonna see the girl again? He knew Max was right, though, summer was almost over, so he went to his bedroom to get ready. Ten minutes later, like she'd promised, the bell rang.

"Bye, mum, I'm going to the swimming pool with the guys!" he exclaimed, and without waiting for an answer, he opened the door and rushed to Steve's car. He opened the door and sat between Max and Lucas.

"Okay, so, we're gonna go get the others now. But to make things clear, this is the last time I'm taking seven people in a four-place car," Steve said, and Dustin rolled his eyes. "That's what you said the last five times."

They picked Will up and then they headed to the Wheeler's. Dustin's single ass was sitting in the front seat now, so Mike sat down next to Will, who was next to Max and Lucas.

"Hi" he said, smiling at him, and Will blushed even though Mike had literally only greeted him. "Hello," the boy replied, and Max and Lucas looked at each other. "Hello, earth to Mike. We know Will's your best friend, but we're here too," Dustin said, and Mike rolled his eyes, ignoring him.

"Are you better?" Mike asked Will. Last night they'd been talking a lot and Will had explained how he was scared how people would react when they found out he was gay. If they already made fun of him when he hadn't even said so himself, what were they gonna do now? He felt so shy when talking about it, especially with Mike, but it felt like he was finally reaching his freedom as a person.

"Yeah, I guess," Will replied, and Mike smiled even brighter. He was happy Will was embracing his sexuality and was starting to think of telling people. He'd been kind of worried that those stupid bullies had made Will scared of coming out of the closet, but he'd promised Will he'd always be by his side and defend him, and that made the boy feel a little more secure.

"Okay, awesome. Now we have to pick up Jane and then we can go," Max said, and Will and Mike stared at each other with open eyes. Neither of them had thought about the fact that Jane would be coming to the swimming pool too. How awkward was that gonna be?

Mike approached Will. "Get me out of this situation, please," he muttered in Will's ear. Will felt Mike's warm breath in his neck and he felt shivers down his spine. He tried to think of a good excuse really fast, but he wasn't a good liar.

"I don't know!" he muttered back, and Mike sighed loudly. He hadn't even told Jane he wanted to break up completely, and he for sure didn't want to face this awkward situation.

Mike and Will had no idea of what to do, and soon they were pulling over in front of Hopper's home. "Mike, go get Jane," Lucas said, and Mike looked at Will with panicky eyes.

"Uh, I'll go," Will said, surprising everyone. He opened the car door and Mike let him out. He walked to the door and rang the doorbell. No one opened it, so he rang it again. This time, he heard some walking and Hopper opened the door.

"What are you doing here, kid?" he asked him, and Will fake smiled. "I came to pick Jane up, we're going to the swimming pool," he replied.

"I don't think she's in the mood to go to the swimming pool," Hopper said. When Will asked why, Hopper tilted his head like it was obvious. He then moved to the side a little bit so that Will could see the inside of the house and the boy gasped. Everything was in the floor, some broken plates and glasses, and books here and there.

"What happened?" Will asked, though he was afraid he knew the answer. "Well, since that friend of yours is a coward and didn't come here himself to tell Jane that they would never ever get back together, I had to do it myself. I think you can imagine the rest of it. She got mad at me and started calling me a liar and throwing stuff across the house with her mind," Hopper explained, and Will gulped.

He turned around to see Mike, and he saw he was making a perfect O shape with his mouth. He turned back to Hopper again and fake smiled at him again. "Can I go talk to my friend for a second? I'll be back."

He ran to Mike and dragged him away to have a private conversation. "Mike. You need to talk to Jane and make things clear. It's driving her crazy," Will said, and Mike sighed, knowing he was right.

"You're right. I'll talk to her. But please don't go. Be with me the whole time," Mike requested, grabbing Will's arm softly. "Of course," the boy replied.

"Hey, assholes! Are you coming or what? It's fucking hot, man," Steve screamed, from the car. "Go! We'll stay here!" Mike screamed back, and Steve rolled his eyes while starting the machine again.

Inside the car, it was all confusion. Why were Mike and Will staying at Jane's and not coming to the swimming pool? And why was Hopper's house a mess? And why did Will and Mike seem to be hiding so many secrets?

As they drove away, Max had a worried look on her face, for she could guess the answers to all of these questions. Lucas looked at her and he was worried too –he knew something was up with his girlfriend.

Mike and Will planned what they were gonna say to Jane and after a long discussion, they walked back to Hopper, who was impatient as fuck.

"Can we please talk to Jane?" Mike asked. Hopper made a judgy face. "Yeah. Come on in. But I warn you: be careful with what you say. Anything could make her mad right now... and you guys know what happens when she gets mad" Hopper replied, pointing at the mess his house was.

Will and Mike shared a scared look and walked inside. "She's in her room," Hopper said, as the two boys walked towards it. When they were in front of it, Mike grabbed Will's hand again. He was so nervous to talk to her.

Will nodded telling Mike to knock on the door. The boy breathed heavily as he raised his arm and finally knocked on the door. Something fell to the floor making a loud noise and then, the door opened.
