Dustin left the bike on the floor as he ran inside. They had gone biking for quite a long time, and now they were at Dustin's. Max and Lucas jumped off their bikes and ran inside the house, and Will was gonna too, but Mike grabbed his arm.

"Will, can we please talk for a second?" he said, and Will nodded. He was pretty scared of what he was gonna say but he was also ready to listen to what Mike had to tell him.

"Those things I said last night... I don't want you to think that I'm lying to Jane, or that I don't love her. I do love her, I just... I need some space and...God, I don't even k-know anym-more." Mike said, completely losing track of what he was saying. Will smiled at Mike's cute stutter.

"I completely understand," he said. "I just think I shouldn't be the one you tell this stuff to... You should talk to Jane when she comes back, Mike. Tell her how you feel." Mike smiled, too. He nodded, putting his arm around Will.

"Let's go inside with the others," he said. Just like that, any akwardness between them two was gone and Will, tho he was still heartbroken, was happy that Mike was gonna talk to Jane.

-

"Jane! Hello, sweetheart!" Karen said, talking with Jane through the phone.

"Hello, Mrs Wheeler! Is Mike around? I would like to talk to him for a while." Jane requested. She really missed him.

"Mike  is not home, sorry. He went cycling with Will and the others. But call later if you want, and he'll be home then." Karen replied. She could hear Jane sigh at the other side of the phone.

"Yeah, sure... at eight?" "Yes, at eight he'll have to be home. How's it going with Becky?" Karen asked, tyring to make some conversation.

"Sorry, I have to go. I have lots of stuff to do. But thank you! Bye!" Jane quickly said. She wasn't in the mood for talking at all. Not with an adult. "Of course, of course. Bye, see you so-" Jane hung up as Karen stood in disbelief. Had a 14-year-old hung up the phone on her? Teenagers are so rude nowadays.

-

Will and Mike laughed at a stupid joke while they opened the Byers' door. "Mum?" Will asked, walking inside. "Will, honey!" they heard, from Joyce's room. "How'd it go with you bike? Does your butt still hurt when-" she stopped talking when she realized Mike was there, too. She gave him an akward smile.

"Oh! Hi, Mike!" she said to the boy, who was grinning. Will looked at Mike and he sighed. How could his mum always manage to embarass him?

"Can we use the phone? We want to call Mike's mum and ask her if Mike can sleep here today" Will asked. "If that's okay with you," Mike was quick to add. Joyce smiled lightly.

"That's okay, but I'm not gonna be home for dinner tonight..." she explained. "That's fine, mum, we'll order pizza" Will said, smiling. Suddenly, Jonathan entered the room. "Won't be home for dinner? My mum has a social life?" he joked, gasping. Joyce rolled her eyes and went back to her room.

"Call Karen and ask her if she's okay with this!" she shouted, closing the door. Mike was quick to grab the phone.

-

"Stay at the Byers'? Yeah sure, that's okay... but Jane was-" "Thank you mum!" Mike said, hanging up. Karen gasped. It was the second time a teenager hung up on her today. And it was almost eight. Jane would be calling any minute now. What would she say? She promised Mike would be at home at eight...

Just then, the phone started ringing, like Jane was reading Karen's thoughts. Karen sighed for the hundreth time that day. Stupid teenagers and their hormones. She answered the phone.

"Hello!" Jane's excited voice said. "Can I talk to Mike?" she asked, Karen not even getting the chance to say a word. "I'm sorry, sweetie, but he's not home." "Not home?" Jane asked, in a disappointed voice. "But you said he would be at home at eight... and it's eight." Karen sighed.

"I know, but Mike is sleeping at the Byers today... Maybe you should try again tomorrow?" Mrs Wheeler suggested. "No, Mrs Wheeler. I need to talk to him today." Jane replied, in a bossy voice.

"Well... I guess I could give you the Byers' phone number?"

-

Mike gasped. "This scene's awesome." All three freaks were having a Star Wars marathon while eating pizza in the sofa. Will couldn't really pay attention to the movie though. He cared more about his arm and leg casually touching Mike's every now and then. Even if it was completely casual, it still made his heart go wild.

Suddenly, the phone rang. "I'll go" Jonathan said, and Mike paused the movie. Jonathan answered the phone hearing Will and Mike chuckling in the sofa.

"Mike, this is for you," he announced. Mike got up and took the phone. "Hi? Jane, hi! Yeah, I'm at Will's..." Will stopped listening. His moment  was over.

"Yeah, we're having a Star Warts marathon... yeah... I'll call you tomorrow. Bye!" Mike hung up the phone and Will was surprised. That had lasted less than two minutes. He smiled while Mike sat back next to him, this time closer.

"Nothing's more important than Star Wars and my best friend" Mike said, smiling, playing the movie again.

-

It was 2am and Will was in the school field, but as a younger self. He was playing with some kids but suddenly, they disappeared. The green grass turned grey and the sunny sky was grey, too. Suddenly, he was in a soccer field. There were lots of people in the bleachers, cheering. Who are they cheering for?   He tried to ask, but he couldn't speak.

He realised some girls were holding a sign. Will read what it said. Mind Flayer is our hero!  Will was extremely confused. Then, he looked up to the sky and saw the mind flayer. His shadow arms were extremely scary. Will was terrified. "This isn't real" Will said to himself. "This isn't real. It's a dream." But he was so terrified. It did seem real...

The mind flayer started approaching him, and Will tried to run like he did every time he saw the mind flayer in his dreams, but he couldn't. His feet were stuck to the floor. "Mike" Will muttered, feeling some tears in his cheeks. The mind flayer was closer and closer. "Mike. Mike. Mike." He was closer and closer. "Will?" The sky and ground started shaking. "Will!"

"Will!" Will opened his eyes, breathing extremely fast. "Mike! The mind flayer is here! He's here and he wants me! Help me, Mike!" Will said, sobbing. Mike grabbed Will by the shoulders and pulled him into a hug.

"Don't worry, Will. It was only a dream. Shhh" he said, letting him cry on his shoulder. "Shhhhh." He hugged him until he calmed down and the he pulled away. "You said your dreams were over" Mike said.

"Well, I guess they're not." Will muttered, not daring to look at Mike. "Will, you have to tell us the truth if you want us to help you" Mike said, and Will sighed. "But let's not talk about this now. Let's go back to sleep" he said. He stared at his bed on the floor.

He lied down next to Will and covered himself with a blanket though it was really hot. "Go back to sleep."
