Jane opened her bedroom door and walked outside. Mike had left a while earlier and it was lunchtime. She sat down in the sofa as Hopper sipped some beer (again). Her eyes and nose were red and she had a sad look on her face. Just by looking at her you could tell she had gone through some heartbreaking shit, but she sat down so that Jim couldn't see her face.

"So, I noticed you and Mike closed the door when he came. You fixed the mistake later, but you should make sure you don't make that mistake again," the man said. "It's an easy rule to remember." Jane gulped. She couldn't believe he was talking about something as stupid as that.

"We wanted to have a private conversation," Jane replied. "You're teenagers. What conversation did you need to have that I couldn't hear? Are you pregnant?" Hopper asked, in an ironic tone.

"No. We just wanted to talk. But anyways, you don't have to worry about that anymore, because he broke up with me," Jane said, getting up and running back to her room. She slammed the door and Hopper heard hard sobs.

"Fuck," he muttered. She must be heartbroken. And all he was worrying about was that stupid rule. He felt so bad now. He knew he had to talk to her to help her deal with her first breakup, but he really didn't know how. If at least she had a mum... but she doesn't.

"Fuck," he repeated, running his hand through his hair. He threw the empty beer can to the trash and walked to the girl's room. He knocked softly on the door.

"Jane? Open the door. Let's talk about it" he said. There was no response, just more sobs. God, the girl really had a lot of water on her body... "Come on, Jane, it'll make you feel better."

"I don't wanna talk about it," the girl managed to say, between sobs. "Why not? You can't just cry for the eternity, Jane, you need to get over him. And one good way is to talk about it," the man said, trying to convince her.

"Well, I'm not gonna get over him, because he said we should be separated for some time. That means we may get back together in a few weeks" the teenager replied. She still had hope.

"What? That's what he said?" Hopper asked, his blood boiling in anger. How dare he break up with her with just a phrase? Some time?

"Yeah, so it really makes no sense I'm crying, because we'll probably be back together in less than a month" Jane said, and Hopper almost kicks the door out of anger.

"Hey, Jane, I have to go for, um, work stuff. I'll be back soon" he said, as he put some shoes on and left.

Mike was watching the tv when he heard loud, angry knocks on the door. He closed the tv and got up from the sofa. He was home alone since his dad had gone with his mum to some friend's place (which seemed like a miracle because his dad never ever got up from the sofa) and Nancy was with Jonathan, so he had to open the door himself.

He opened it lazily and was surprised when he saw the Hopper was the one in front of him. "Uh, hi" he said. "Let's talk," Hopper said, walking in.

Mike let the man in, surprised, and followed him to the living room. He guessed Jane had talked to him about their breakup, but that was why he was here? To try to change his mind and make him get back together with her?

"So, first of all," Hopper started, and the anger in his voice was noticeable. "I have no fucking idea why you broke up with her. You literally waited for the girl for 353 days when you weren't even actually dating, and when she gets back and you two are the happiest you end your relationship? That makes no sense to me."

Mike opened his mouth to talk, but Hopper shut him quickly. "I don't care about that, that's not why I'm here. I guess you have your own reasons, though I don't really understand them. The reason why I'm here is –how dare you give her hope?" the man said, rising his voice a little bit.

"What?" Mike asked, not understanding what the man was talking about. "When I talked to her," Hopper said, "she said: he said we should be separated for some time. We'll probably be back together in less than a month." He arched his eyebrows, waiting for a good answer.

"I don't really understand what you're saying," Mike said, because he truly didn't. Hopper sighed loudly. "What I'm saying is either you break up with her, or you don't. Because now she is pretty sure that you'll get back together and if you don't, you're gonna break her heart even more. You're giving her hope to break her heart even more" he said.

"But I don't know if I'm gonna get back together with her with the time. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. That's why I need the time, to figure things out. I need to be a little selfish this time," the young boy said.

"Well, I won't allow you to be selfish because it's my daughter you're hurting. Make a decision right now. Do you get back together with her or break up with her forever?" Hopper asked, and Mike was speechless. How is he supposed to make such a decision right now?

"I can't answer this right now! We've only broken up for a day!" he complained. He couldn't believe Hopper was really giving him an ultimatum.

"Well, have you missed her today? Regretted what you did?" the man asked, and Mike knew exactly what the answer was. "No," he muttered, looking down. "Then you're not getting back together with her. Ever. Okay? Talk to her and make that clear, because she's pretty sure that in less than a month you'll be together again" Hopper said, and he left the house without even letting Mike answer.

The teenager was speechless. He didn't know what to do. It was almost like Hopper had made the decision for him. He got up and walked to the phone. He dialed a phone number he knew by heart and waited for an answer.

"Yes?" he heard in the other side. "Will?" Mike said. "Can you sleep at mine today? Please?" he asked, and Will was extremely surprised.

"I'm not sure that's a good idea, Mike," the boy said, both of them knowing what he was talking about. "Please, please, please, a million times please, Will. I need you" Mike said, and Will sighed. His friend needs him.

"I'll ask my mum, but I'm telling you in advance she'll say yes. She was going out with that mysterious man of hers again" Will said, and Mike smiled, happy that he would be seeing his friend again.

"Awesome! Thank you, Will! I'll ask my mum about it right now!" Mike said. He hung up, but before doing so, he heard Will go "wait, you haven't asked your mum?".

Mike kind of felt bad for asking Will to sleep over at his place now that he knew his feelings for him, but he needed him. Not Lucas, not Dustin. Him. All he had to do now was wait for his parents to come back home and hope they'll say yes.

As if the universe wanted to make the boy happy, the door opened in that moment and his mum and dad walked in. "Hi, sweetie. Where's Nancy?" Karen asked, while Ted walked to the sofa and threw himself to it making a loud noise.

"He's sleeping at Jonathan's, but mum, can Will-" Mike started. "She's sleeping at Jonathan's? Why am I just hearing about this?" the woman asked. "I don't know, mum, but can Will please sleep over today?" Mike asked.

"Again? Aren't you two sleeping together a lot lately?" Karen asked. Mike knew she was right, they'd really slept together a lot these last days. What's wrong about that? They're best friends. Although one of them wishes they were something more...

"Come on, please, mum. We have to talk," Mike insisted. "sure, sure, he can sleep over. But please stop making last minute plans" Mrs. Wheeler replied, and Mike smiled widely.

"Awesome! He'll be here any minute!" Mike exclaimed. "Wait, you had already told him to come before asking me?" Karen asked, but Mike didn't answer, runnning to his room. He was excited to have a sleepover with his best friend again.

"This is the last time you two are having a sleepover!" Karen shouted. Too many sleepovers lately.
