The bell rang. She turned around, still sleepy. She waited to see if it rang again, but it didn't, so she went back to sleep. Five minutes later, there was knocking in her window.
"Ughhhh," she said, getting rid of the blankets. It was crazy hot and a lot of light was coming in through the window. The curtains moved with some cool air that felt great. She got up, wearing her pjs- orange with tiny red stripes. Had she heard some knocking on the window or was she insane?
She was leaving the room to have breakfast when she heard the knocking again. She opened the curtains with a fast movement and bumped into Lucas' forehead. "Ouch!", he complained. "Lucas! What are you doing here?! You know I don't want my parents to know about us! And what time is it?!" she said, without even breathing.
Lucas pulled a face, massaging his aching forehead. "Would have you prefered me to call you and have your mum answer?", he replied. Max's face softened at his words. He was right. "And it's eight," he added. Max's face was angry again, and before she could open her mouth to complain about the time, Lucas continued talking. "I know it's early, but we're going cycling with Dustin! And we want to stop by the Wheeler's first to ask Mike and Will if they're coming."
Max's jaw dropped. "Mike and Will? At the Wheeler's? Why is Will there so early-" Lucas interrupted her. "Didn't Dustin call you on the supercomm? Damn him! I told him to call you and tell you, I had to go to sleep." Max was still confused. "Tell me what?", she asked, impatiently.
"Will slept at the Wheeler's yesterday. We're extremely interested in knowing if it was a casual friend sleepover or... something more." he said, making a sexy face. "Your attempt at a sexy face hasn't worked. And I'm curious too, so let's go," she replied, starting to climb out the window.
"Uh, Max, I love your cute pjs, but do you think they are the best thing to go cycling?", he asked. She looked down and realized that she was, in fact, still wearing her pjs. She punched him in the arm and climbed inside to get changed.

"Guys! Wake up! Your friends are here and I made blueberry pancakes!" Karen said, knocking on the door. Will turned around, refusing to wake up. Mike looked at his clock. It was almost nine. He remembered last night's conversation.
*flashback*
"Mike? Are you awake?" Will muttered. All he heard was crying. "Hey, are you okay?", he insisted, touching his shoulder. "No," Mike answered, turning around. His pillow was wet of tears. "W-What's wrong? Is it Jane?" Will asked, feeling pain in his heart.
"I just... I know she's gonna be crying over me now..." he replied, softly. "It's been like a day. Do you think she's gonna miss you already?" Will asked. "Jane might be very strong for some stuff, but she is not independent at all, even if she wishes she was. It's like she's been alone so many years- she doesn't wanna be alone anymore. So she just goes with someone all the time. Hopper, me, the party. And she knows nothing about real life! And now she's gonna be alone for two weeks, missing her boyfriend..." Mike muttered. Will could almost hear his heart break even more than it already was when he heard Mike call himself Jane's boyfriend.
"Well, she's not gonna be alone, she'll be with Becky. And think of how good this separation is for you!" Will said, always trying to be positive. "Well... I'm gonna miss Jane, but i'll also get some time to be alone, too." Mike agreed. "What do you mean?", Will asked. He was confused.
"Don't misunderstand me, I lo- like Jane. And I really enjoy spending time with her. But sometimes... sometimes she won't leave me alone. It's like, I'll be sleeping in the morning and she'll knock in my window, waking me up just so we can go to the lake," Mike explained. Since Will didn't say anything, he kept talking.
"Or, do you remember that cute story we told about how we met in the woods at midnight because we missed each other?" Will nodded. "Well, it wasn't exactly like that. I was sleeping and she knocked on my window- again- and forced me to give her a ride to the woods to have a romantic night." Mike sighed.
"Well, wasn't it romantic?" Will asked. "I was half asleep and I wasn't even wearing clothes- i was wearing my pjs. And we got lost in the way back to her place. It wasn't romantic, it was scary", Mike explained. Will was shocked.
"Wow, I had no idea... And have you tried telling this to her? Ask for some space?", Will suggested. "I'm scared of how will she take it. She'll probably think I'm breaking up with her or something. And that's not what I want. I just want to live my own life." They were both silent for a while.
"It's pretty late," Will said. "Let's talk about this tomorrow". Mike agreed. They both said good night and went to sleep again. But Will couldn't fall asleep at all- he couldn't stop thinking about Mike's words. "More space," he thought. "I would have given him space".
*end of flashback*
"Guys! Are you coming or not? I'm gonna eat your pancakes!", Dustin shouted. Will got up. He got his clothes and went to the bathroom. When he came out again, Mike was already upstairs. Will sat down on the table with the party and they all started eating, while Lucas, Max and Dustin joked and laughed. But Mike and Will were silent. Mike regretting saying that kind of stuff about his girlfriend, and Will feeling uncomfortable for hiding such things from her friend.
Maybe he shouldn't have slept at the Wheeler's at all.
