so in this chapter as y'all know school starts and shit and i didn't know if i had to put them in high school or middle school so i'm just not gonna say either, yes Mr Clarke will still be their teacher but only bc that's iconic, that doesn't mean that they are still in middle school but it also doesn't mean that they're in high school. :) sorry i'm a mess.

Will and Mike were biking next to each other on their way to where they usually met with Lucas and Dustin. A couple streets away, Mike stopped and Will stopped next to him too.

"We better not arrive together," the boy explained, and Will nodded. "You go first. I'll come in a while."

Will was ready to start cycling again but suddenly, he hopped out of his bike and rushed to Mike, their lips colliding in a deep kiss, the black haired boy barely maintaining his feet on the floor.

He pushed away quickly. "Will, what did we agree on? No kisses in public! What if someone saw us?" he asked, looking around in worry.

"I-I'm sorry, it's just we're gonna be in school all day and I won't get to kiss you and I wanted to kiss you one last time. I'm sorry."

Mike sighed. "Fuck it," he muttered, before grabbing Will by his jaw and pulling him close, their lips colliding once again in a deep kiss. When they pulled apart, Mike was smiling.

"Well that definitely made my day a lot better. Now, go," he said, and when Will bent over to grab his bike from the floor, he patted his ass.

"Hey! Don't do that!" he complained, and Mike chuckled.

"Come on, go!" Will struck his tongue out playfully and then he left, leaving Mike smiling by himself. He didn't regret one second of the past few days.

A while later, he started biking too, making it to their meeting place quickly.

"Hey, Mike," Dustin greeted, and Mike replied with a nod. Then he looked at Will and winked at him, causing the boy to turn away.

"Come on, let's go or we'll be late for school," Lucas said.

Max and Jane were walking around school. The halls were flooded with people, everyone saying hi to their friends who they hadn't seen in the entire summer, telling each other the important stuff. Some looked at Jane, some didn't even notice her.

"And this is the science lab. In here we do experiments, and i don't know, learn about science stuff," Max explained, though Jane wasn't really listening. She looked around, absolutely fascinated. She'd never seen so many kids together. There were hundreds of them, she was sure!

She turned on herself slowly, her mouth wide open, looking at that place full of life. She looked at the lockers, at the papers hanging on the walls, at all of the kids. This had nothing to do with the last 14 years of her life!

She laughed happily. School wasn't gonna be so bad after all! She had Max with her, and the rest of the party. Yes, Mike too. They'd broken up, but Jane knew he still cared about her. Max just looked at her with a smile on her face.

The bell rang loudly, Jane jumping in surprise and confusion. "Don't worry, Jane. That's just the signal that we have to go to class. I'll explain it all later. Now come with me."

Max walked them to their classroom and walked in, seeing that the boys had saved two places for them. Lucas, Max and Jane were sitting in the first row, in the middle, and Will, Mike and Dustin were sitting right behind them.

They quickly sat on their places since Mr Clarke was already there.

"Hello, everyone!" he said, in an enthusiastic voice, only earning responses from the party and some sleepy students.

"So! A new school year! I hope you all are as excited as I am. We are gonna learn a lot!" he looked around the class curiously.

"Well well well, I see the party has expanded this year. Hello, Will. Mike, Dustin, Lucas, you're Max, and you... you're new!"

Jane nodded slowly. "Hm, you look familiar. I'm pretty sure I saw a girl similar to you some time ago, with blonde hair..." he said, as if he were trying to remember.

The boys all looked at each other, panicking. None of them remembered that Mr Clarke had already seen Jane once, presented to him as Mike's cousin from Switzerland.

"Oh anyway, I'm sure I'm just delusional. Will you please come out here in front of the entire class and introduce yourself?"

Jane gave Max a panicked look. Max took her hand and whispered in her ear, "it's gonna be okay. Just say you're Jane Hopper and that you're new here."

Jane nodded and got up hesitantly. She walked to the side of Mr Clarke. She took in a deep breath.

"Hello, my name is Jane Hopper and I'm new here." she said, almost whispering.

"What? We can't hear you! Speak a little bit louder," the teacher said.

Jane felt all the eyes on her. She was starting to feel anxious, the only people she'd ever really talked to were Hopper, her friends and her friends' parents. And now she had an entire class of kids looking at her, expecting her to talk.

She looked at Mike, looking for reassurance. Mike looked straight into her eyes and nodded. "You can do this," he mouthed, and Jane nodded, smiling.

"Hello, my name is Jane Hopper and I'm new here," she repeated, louder this time.

"Hopper? I didn't know Hopper had a daughter," the teacher said.

"Uh... well, he does."

"Well, great! Welcome, Jane! You can go back to your place now."

Jane did as she was told and she went back to her place and sat down. Max was quick to take her hand and squeeze it. "You did great." Jane smiled. No, school wasn't going to be so bad after all.
