okay so in some point of this story someone said that they'd go back to school in x days but i don't remember how many days it was so yeah ignore that

-------------------------------------

"I can't believe we have to go back to school in just four days," Max said, swinging. Her and Lucas were hanging out in a park.

"I know. It felt so short," Lucas replied, but he wasn't paying much attention to what she was saying. Instead, he was sitting on the swing, not swinging, just staring at Max's hair move with the wind. "God, she's gorgeous," he thought. Then she stopped swinging and stared at him.

"What are you looking at?" she asked, and Lucas snapped back to reality. Sometimes he forgot Max isn't romantic and isn't really into couple stuff. "Nothing."

"I'm really worried about Will," Max suddenly said, and went back to slowly swinging again. "Will? Why? What's wrong with him?" Lucas asked, worried. Would he need to go back to that doctor again?

"Haven't you noticed he's been acting kind of weird lately? Like... around Mike and Jane..." Max suggested. She was hoping Lucas would get what she was trying to say. She knew she wasn't supposed to tell anyone, but she was tired of being the only one who knew about it.

Lucas thought for a second. "No, not really. I haven't noticed any weird behavior. In fact, he's been hanging out with Mike a lot lately." Max rolled her eyes. How can everyone be so blind?

"Why? Do you think he's been acting weird?" he asked, and Max nodded so hard she could've broken her neck. She opened her mouth to say something but before she could say a word, Lucas spoke again.

"I mean, having in mind he's in love with Mike, he hasn't been acting weirder lately," he said, and Max gasped. "You know?" she asked, in surprise. Lucas raised his eyebrows. "I don't think there's one person in this world that doesn't know. Only the way he looks at Mike is more than enough to know," he replied.

Max let out a sigh. She was relieved that she wouldn't have to hide it anymore, but she instantly felt worried again because she thought... "Oh my god, Lucas, what if Jane knows?"

"Yeah, i thought about that too," Lucas said. "Maybe it was the whole reason why she threw that frame at Will's head..." he muttered.

"What?!" Max said, and she sounded pretty angry. "How can you say that? Jane is our friend! She's a good person, she would never do that to Will on purpose!" she exclaimed. Lucas stayed silent for a while.

"Except she already has," he said, and Max looked at him in confusion. "I mean, not to Will, but to you. Remember when you had just arrived in town and Mike really hated you? And you were both in the gym, and you were skating, and suddenly you fell and you said it felt like there was some 'magnet' pulling your board?" Max's expression changed from confused to angry.

"Oh my god, SHE did that to me? But that can't be, at the time Jane was missing, Mike didn't know where she was or-"

"She was in Hopper's cabin, remember? She escaped and came to the school looking for Mike, but instead she found you two. She got jealous, or mad, and made you fall of your skate. Will heard Hopper telling this to Joyce," Lucas explained. Max's expression got angrier every minute.

"So she did that to me without even knowing me? What did I even do to her? I remember my back hurt bad for at least one week after that!" she exclaimed, and Lucas wasn't so sure if it had been a good idea to tell her this. He opened his mouth to talk, but before he could, he saw Max calm herself quickly.

"Okay, but that was a long time ago, almost a year. And she did it because she hadn't seen him in a long time and when she saw us together, she thought that Mike hadn't been thinking about her like she'd been thinking about him, and got mad," she said. It was really impressive the capacity she had of letting her anger out quickly and then forgetting about it completely.

"Are you trying to excuse her right now?" Lucas asked. "No, not excuse her, what she did was still wrong... But she didn't do it because she felt like it, you know. She has feelings. She's a good person," Max muttered, like she wasn't so sure about that anymore.

"I'm not saying she's a bad person. The only thing i'm saying is that she is really possessive over Mike and can't control her anger. That's it," Lucas said. They both stayed silent for a while.

"Maybe we should talk to Mike and Will tomorrow," Max said. "Just to make sure everything's okay, and..."

"Yeah. Let's talk to them tomorrow," Lucas agreed.

The next day, Will was with Mike at the Byers'. They hadn't seen each other since their first kiss, so Will had been pretty worried, thinking that now they were boyfriends they would feel awkward with each other, but when Mike arrived at his place, it wasn't like that at all. They greeted each other like they always did, they talked about the same stuff they always did. Except now they were cuddling on the bed and they were officially a couple.

Will felt extremely comfortable around Mike, in a way he didn't feel with anyone else. He felt like he could truly be himself, breathe, he could be free, for he was the only person in the entire planet that knew everything about him.

They were in Will's bed. Will was resting his head in Mike's chest while the other played with his soft hair, giving him kisses in the forehead every once in a while, which made Will's heart skip a beat.

Suddenly, the bell rang. Will sighed. He didn't want to get up from this comfortable position. Mike smiled sweetly. "Come on, baby. I have to get the door," he said. Will almost lost his shit. Had Mike literally just called him "baby"? OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD.

"Wait, this is my house. Why do you have to get the door?" Will asked, pretending to be offended. "Because you're resting in your bed. Let me get the door." The ball rang again and Will sighed. "Go open the door already," he said, and Mike got up from the bed.

He opened the door with a smile in his face but he instantly dropped it when he saw Max and Lucas. "Mike? Why isn't Will getting the door?" Lucas asked, walking in uninvited, Max following him.

"He's, uh... in his bed. He's sick. Very sick." Mike replied. Lamest excuse ever. "Sick?" Max asked. She quickly ran to Will's bedroom and opened the door to find Will sitting in bed, with a more than healthy appearance.

"Will, are you okay?" Max asked, as Lucas and Mike made their way to the room as well. Will made a confused face. "Yes?" he replied, but then he saw Mike from behind shaking his head and mouthing "NO".

"I- i mean, no, no, i'm not okay" he corrected. "See, I told you, he's sick." Mike said. "If you're sick, then get on the bed and don't come out til you get better," Lucas said, and Will tried his best to pretend he was sick by coughing. He had no idea what was going on, but he had understood that he was supposed to go with whatever Mike said.

"Anyway, we came here to talk to you."
