Screams in an endless sea of yellow. There were my screams echoing in a void the size of an universe. Trapped under gravity's might as I descend like a speeding bullet. Hurling towards the bottom. Knowing that even in a place as nonsensical as this, there has to be solid ground somewhere, and when I land, that will be the end of Freddie Mason!
I can feel myself shifting downwards even faster. Like I was falling for all eternity. After what felt like thirty minutes, I actually start to believe in that concept. That Tammy must be working alongside my sister. Sent here to banish us into falling for all eternity.
A sheet of black opens besides me. A girl with red flowing hair leans out, turns her head in both directions, sees me in all my screaming glory, and palms her face.
"Oh for the love of-" Tammy reaches out and grabs my hand. With a hard yank, she pulls me into the other side.
A sudden jolt in motion. Followed by another flash of light. Everything around me goes black.
I find myself in the middle of a grassy field at night. Which was spread out as far as the eye could see. The grass sways and dances helplessly against the seemingly never-ending breeze. The air itself has a rich, pine scent to it. Nothing was out of the ordinary here. Everything looked, smelled, and felt like home. If this really is a different world like Tammy said, then this puts me at ease. I mean, everything still looks the same. And not a single demon in sight.
But that changes once I look up in the sky. To see three moons staring back at me. One yellow, blue, and the other one red. All looking like giant marbles in the sky.
My hands tingle. Almost on the verge of going numb. There is definitely a buzz of magic in the air. Way more than back home.
I have the urge to soak it all in. Keep it bottled up somewhere. And release it on the demons back on Earth. But there isn't the time. Tammy once told me that magic is unpredictable. There is no telling what might happen if I absorb this much power.
"Hey, over here!" Sophie waves at me. She is standing just a few yards away. Along with the others. Tammy appears to be reading some kind of map. Once I get to them, I realize I was right.
I stand alongside Tammy. Not knowing what else to do. I feel lost. No longer was I in control of the situation. My life has been nothing but a series of crazy events. None that I have any real control over. Yet, this one girl manages to stand against the current of madness. A fragile looking redhead who is now my only shot at coming out of this whole thing alive.
Tammy explains to us what needs to be done. That we need to learn as much magic as possible. So that we can fight the demons on their turf. Some object to the idea. Saying it was crazy. But Tammy insists that we try. That in order for us to win, we need to take off the head demon.
Whoever that was.
Everyone eventually is forced to agree. Then we make our way towards a city. It is a very small one. Poorly run down. The buildings look just like the ones back home. So it doesn't feel like I'm missing a beat. Tammy rents us off a motel for the night. Two rooms. One for the girls. The other for the dudes.
Mitch, Frankie, and I finish setting up our room. Even though we don't have much to go on. It's not like we could bring anything from home. So we had to adjust accordingly. There are two beds. Some posters of men in a weird, black collar shirts with gold buttons. With the words 'Magician' stitched in gold.
