Tammy turns to our leader. A motion that carried behind the emotion of concern. "Hey, any ideas on what should we do?"
Deondre stands ahead of the group of bandits. Staring off into the distance. Fixed on the figure that approaches us in slow, haunting steps. His facial expression never falters. Not even showing the slightest bit of fear. Nor any signs of tensing up or nervous twitches. He might be a true leader after all. Just seeing this alone makes me believe we have a chance. That we might actually win this thing. As long as we have him on our side.
"No..." Deondre mutters. I suddenly do a double-take. Stunned by his words. He bows his head. Turning his hands into tight, trembling knots. Grinding his teeth. "Out of all places...why did he pick here? Why now?
His eyes turn into narrow slits. "And why did it have to be him?"
"Wait, you know this demon?" I take a closer look. No doubt. It is the same demon I saw twice already. He sure does have a twisted habit of following me around. But he never says anything. Just watches me from afar.
I wonder...what is he plotting?
My vision suddenly increases tenfold. Everything around me becomes crystal clear. I can see every blade of glass. Even the tiny bugs that skitter on the ground. But my vision zooms in like a telescope. Going past the demon. Past the giant forest behind him. Even further than that. Zipping miles and miles ahead. Until I see something that makes my heart skip a beat.
A large city. Engulfed in flames. Towers of black smoke rising everywhere. Buildings torn down to ruins. Another slowly tilts over and hits the ground with a earth-shattering thud. The chaos simply excited the demons. They run amok. Scouring the streets in a large misshapen bunch.
I see people get sliced. Decapitated. Devoured whole. Burned into ashes by demons spewing fire and acid. Chewed only to be spit out in lumps of guts and broken limbs. Entire families torn into pieces like lambs to a slaughter. Countless bodies. Too many being left unrecognizable and deformed.
"This...this is hell." I groan, shaking uncontrollably.
Madness starts to take over. Mind shattered beyond repair. I can almost hear their screams. Their death howls are something I will never forget. It reeked of desperation, fear, and something feral. Like an animal.
I collapsed to my knees. Eyes tinged with red. When the demon stops walking. He claps his hands together. Words of magic flow from his mouth. Much like Tammy does when she's casting a spell. Out of all demons, he seems more calm. And has even studied our language. To the point where he can speak it.
This demon has intelligence!
Seeing this, Tammy sticks the tip of her thumb in her mouth. Biting down to the nail.
"He's chanting a spell." Tammy says. "But demons shouldn't be able to do that. Magic doesn't suit them. Such a thing should be impossible. So how on Earth can one..."
