The mansion itself is huge. Every floor brings about drastic changes in interior design. Almost like it was a different house each floor. Each hallway is decorated with portraits. Pictures of deceased relatives. Past magicians who sacrificed their lives. Some are members from my family tree. A few familiar faces here and there. But some I don't recognize at all.
I tour most of the mansion by myself. Studying the dozens of rooms. Some as large as my living room back home. Others no smaller than a closet. Yet there is a sense of wonder every step I take. Never knowing what's behind these doors.
The rest of the day crawls to an end. I had to kill time. By training out in the massive backyard. Which stretches out for miles on end. Hundreds of acres of grassy land. You can fit a small city behind it and still have some wiggle room.
My powers still work the same. I feel no different than I did last time. But there is something off about me. Something...darker. I can't put my finger on it. But with every spell I use. There is an extra kick to them.
I decide to pay no mind to it. Spending the rest of my time in the house. Reading through countless books. Learning about our family history. That has everyone under the Mason family. They achieved great things in their lifetime. Such as finding the way to access the demon world. Creating key strategies to supernatural wars. Developing high level spells. And the list goes on.
But a certain name keeps popping up. Garadex Mason. There is no decent picture of him. Nor any good chunk of information. Since his name dates back to the seventeenth century.
"What a waste." I bury my head in my arms. Resting peacefully on the table. When someone enters the room. I can read their aura without looking. It was Sophie. A familiar face that I haven't seen in awhile. She has been quiet for the most part. But observant.
Frankie trails in behind her. They both enter the room continuously. Looking around. Not knowing whether or not this room has a spell casted on it.
"It's safe to come in." I tell them. "Trust me. I checked every inch of this place. No spells."
"Thank goodness." Sophie sighs in relief. "I don't know how much more of this magical stuff I can take."
The two of them sit right across from me. I noticed that the two of them are more closer. Things might actually start heating up between to two. Unlike me and somebody.
"What did you two come for anyways?" I say bluntly.
"Is it wrong to check up on a dear friend?" Frankie says jokingly.
"I'm fine." I say in a dull tone. "You don't have to worry about me."
"Good." Frankie sighs. "Because I don't want no vegetable of a friend. It's hard enough looking after Mitch. But you would've been the deal breaker. As much as I hate to say it."
I shrug off his response. Diving right back into reading. The name Garadex compels me. I guess It was more than to how unusual the name sounds. It seems to go much deeper. As I try to absorb as much information as I can. About this mystery man.
