A huge gamble on my part. There is no guarantee that everything this demon says is true. But in the midst of a potential armageddon in the works. That involves the lives of untold billions. Nobody can ever hope for a greater opportunity such as this one. But if I fail...the blood of millions of lives rest on my shoulders.

Even in the fog of war. I know better than to expect things to end well. Humanity has been backed into a corner. In order to survive, we often take drastic measures. Despite knowing that our time being the dominant species, is limited. Lord Ominga must have seen this coming a mile away. And now, he's taking advantage of our glaring weakness.

"Are you out of your fucking mind?!" Frankie lashes out.

"Trust me on this. This is the best course of action for us." I tell him.

"How can you even say that?" Frankie says breathlessly. "I mean, what if this is all some sort of trick?"

I ignore him. Lord Ominga uses magic. Conjuring up a red book without chanting any spells. He opens it to the very few last pages. After which he signals for me to come over.

"Step forward, mortal." The demonlord commands. I cautiously follow his orders. Keeping my distance from him. But close enough to reach out and grab the book if I wanted to. "Give me your hand."

I extend my hand forward. Palm facing upwards. The demon studies each of my fingers. Then cuts deep into my index finger. The pain makes me wince. As a single drop of blood falls onto a blank page.

The book lights up in an eerie light. Within a blink of an eye. Words and whole paragraphs spring to life on the page. Filled with every detail about my life. While my full name appears in red ink on top of the page.

"W-What just happened?" I stare, dumbfounded.

"No need to worry." Lord Ominga says in a strange voice. He then closes the book shut. Leaving me with the impression of just having sold my soul to the devil. "All of your information is safe in my hands. So think of this...as your contact. Because once your name goes in this book." His eyes become dark and stormy. "There is no way out. Even in death, if you refuse any of the rules. You will no longer have an afterlife to go to."

He sounds pretty serious about this. Just what kind of game is he playing here? That requires somebody to sign their own life away?

"Okay, so now what?" I cross my arms. Something tells me that this is all some BS. That's he just playing me for a fool.

"Now here comes the fun part. At least...for you folks." Lord Ominga snaps his fingers. The ground below us trembles. I stumble around. Nearly losing my balance. When something black and huge shoots up. Shattering the ground completely.

Sophie stares up. Eyes growing big in shock. While the pillar seemingly stretches farther and farther into the sky. By the time it was finished, it look twice the size of a skyscraper. Except it has red glowing lines running through it.

"Why...why does it feel like I've seen this somewhere before?" Sophie mumbles.
