School

I woke up to my phone playing my favourite song down my ear at 7:00. Great. New school. I wasn't sure if I was entirely ready for this. I sat up in my new bed and scratched my head a little. My new school uniform looked scary all of a sudden. Like a black hole that was going to consume me.

I was crushed from my thoughts at the sound of a knock on the door. "Y/n, it's time to wake up!" I heard Nancy say cheerfully at the other side of the door. How is she so enthusiastic in the morning. I yawned then replied. "Yea, I'm awake!" I called back to her.

I slowly got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. I had a wash and tied my (h/c) (hair colour) hair back into a messy bun. I started to do my makeup. Nothing much, only a bit of blush and a bit of mascara. I didn't want to look like a clown on the first day.

I did my hair. By that I meant I brushed and left it down. I didn't want to try anything too complex on the first day. I went back to my room and put on the uniform. The only part I didn't put on was the tie. I did not know how to tie one.

I looked at myself in the mirror. Everything looked well fitted on me. The skirt fit. The knee-length socks fit. The shirt fit and even the blazer fit. That was a relief.

I waited until I was downstairs to put my shoes on. I walked into the kitchen and saw a plate of pancakes on the table. I sat down and started to eat. I didn't realize how hungry I was. I heard footsteps behind me. "I see you found your breakfast ok?" I heard Darren say behind me. I turned around and nodded with a smile. "They're amazing!" I said enthusiastically. "Well I'm glad you like them" he said with a chuckle.

I looked at my tie on the table. "Can you help me. I don't know how to tie a tie." I asked, not sure what his reaction would be. "Yea, sure," he said. He picked up the tie and started to tie it; teaching me in the process. Finally I was all ready. Nancy had already gone because she was a teacher at the school, so I had to walk by myself. Hopefully I didn't try to get mugged again. That gash on my forehead still really hurt.

I said goodbye to Darren and started to make my way to school. Nancy and Darren had told me which way to go so I had a rough inkling of where I was going. I walked through the streets passing many shops, a hospital, a coffee shop and more.

I took out my earphones and placed them on my ears while putting my favourite playlist on my phone. I started to walk to the beat. The song made me feel a bit better. All of a sudden I felt a hand on my shoulder. I quickly removed my earphones and turned around. "Hey, it's just me." he said. Finally someone I knew. "Ollie, hey!" I said. He was in the same uniform as me except he wore trousers, obviously. "Can I walk with you?" He asked. He was so nice. I saw he was carring a bright orange football. "Yea sure, you don't have to ask. So, do you like football?" I asked, nodding my head towards the ball he held. "Oh this? Yea I love football. There's this ex-footballer in the village and he's starting up an academy. The tryouts are tomorrow." He said. "Wow, that's great, I hope you get in! What's the footballer's name anyway?" I exclaimed.

"His name's Buster. And, to be honest it's more my dad that wants me to get in." He said, his mood becoming less excited. "Well, how about I come to the tryouts tomorrow to cheer you on?" I asked. His face lit up with a smile. "Yea, I'd love that." He said. Eventually we were at the school.

The school day was pretty simple. However not everybody liked me. There was this boy called Imran who was sort of friends with Ollie, but he didn't like me much. Not many people liked me. I ate my lunch with Ollie and walked home with him too. It was nice to have one friend at least. He walked me to Nancy's and Darrens. I said that I would see hom tomorrow for the tryouts and that I would be cheering him on.

The rest of the day was also pretty simple. We spoke about the day, had dinner then went to bed. I fell asleep in an instant.
