The art of storytelling and poetry has been existing ever since the dawn of civilisation. It has, through time, become a basic need. It lets life and love travel through lands, seas and time to thrive somewhere else, with someone else with a greater potential. Stories, poems, folktales are all here to remind us that life can be good, easy and not so lonely as we think it to be. They are here to pull us out of life as much as they are here to push us into life.

Here's a few poems and quotes that have stayed with me. Do comment your views about each of them inline and share the magic of stories and ideas to the world! ✨

"She was the most beautiful, complicated thing I'd ever seen. A tangled mess of silky string. And all I wanted of life, was to sit down cross-legged and untie her knots." ~ ATTICUS.

I am not a huge fan of Atticus, but yes, he's a great poet. They aren't too many metaphors forced into a line. They're short, smooth and touching. I like his writing style. They make me feel a little more understood. :')

"There are feelings in me that don't even have a name yet." ~ GEMMA TROY.

"When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars."

~ WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS.

"Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone;
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,
But has trouble enough of its own.
Sing, and the hills will answer;
Sigh, it is lost on the air;
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.
Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go;
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not need your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all,-
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life's gall.
Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
Succeed and give, and it helps you live,
But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a large and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain."

~ ELLA WHEELER WILCOX.

"Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust."

~ROSE MILLIGAN.

"some days we will find what we are looking for. or maybe not. maybe we'll find something much greater than that."

"Such a curse is constant beauty,

When it surrounds us everyday.

We whine that we can't see the forest,

For the trees are in the way."

~ ERIN HANSON.

I absolutely love Erin Hanson! She's a young poet, but she's absolutely talented. Her poems rhyme with such ease that it drips with sweetness. Her words are strung together beautifully and her poetry has the power to heal.

"And we are all
just fighting
to survive a world
where
I miss you
doesn't mean
I'm coming back,
and
I love you
doesn't mean
I'll stay."

~ CHLOE FRAYNE.

I really like this one! I can deeply connected to it. This year was tough, and this one poem just explained it all.

"She has a bookshelf for her heart,
And ink runs through her veins,
She'll write you into her story,
With a typewriter in her brain,
Her bookshelf's getting crowded,
With all the stories that she's penned,
Of the people who flicked through her pages,
But closed the book before the end,
And there's one pushed to the very back,
That sits collecting dust,
With its title in her finest writing,
"The One's Who Lost My Trust",
There are books she's scared to open,
And books she doesn't close,
Stories of every person she's met,
Stretched out in endless rows,
Some people have only a sentence,
While others once held the main part,
Thousands of inky footprints,
That they've left across her heart,
You may wonder why she does this,
Why write of people she once knew?
But she'll hope she'll mean enough,
For someone to write her too."
