Chapter 5
Cassie’s POV
I wrung my hands together still thinking this was a bad idea. It was exactly one week and a day that Peter promised Josh to meet Spiderman. Peter had kept his word, but I still thought this was a bad idea, I was sure that something would go wrong. Yet, here we were in back of Josh’s school, ready for Josh to meet his hero.
We were sitting on the swings that were on the playground, Josh fidgeting excitedly and me fidgeting nervously. He swung his legs back and forth not being able to stay still as he bounced up and down, looking around and anticipating Spiderman’s arrival.
“Peter is the best.” Josh grinned. “I can’t believe that I’m going to meet Spiderman!” He gave a girly squeal and I couldn’t help but smile at him.
Turning my head away from him, I looked up at the sky, closing my eyes and offering a small prayer. Please don’t let everything go bad! Please?
I could feel a shadow block the sun and snapped my eyes open to see Peter Parker dressed up as the crime fighting teenager.
“Are you Josh?” Peter asked, his so low that it made me giggle a little. Josh was in shock, staring at Spiderman with so wide of eyes they should have popped out of his head. Peter glared at me while I put my hand over my mouth trying not to laugh. We had decided that Peter needed to make his voice sound completely different but this was just too funny.
I started to laugh harder, not able to keep it in which seemed to snap Josh out of his trance. He hit me, “Cassie be nice. He’s not silly,” He turned to Peter, his face in awe. “He’s a hero.”
Peter laughed and ruffled Josh’s hair which, usually, if it wasn’t Peter or my family and I, he would never let anyone do. My eyes widened as I realized this and glared at Peter, hoping he would understand that Josh might make the connection. Thankfully he understood and shot his hand away from Josh, quickly starting to talk.
“A buddy of mine told me that you were doing a report on me?” Peter asked Josh, his voice rising slightly from not able to keep in character.
Josh nodded frantically but suddenly stopped, his eyes narrowing. “But how do I know you’re the real Spiderman.”
I gasped. “Josh!” I accused but he seemed stuck on that he wanted proof.
Even with the mask, I could tell that Peter smirked. “Could a fake Spiderman do… this?” he asked and quickly scooped Josh in his arms and let one of his webs go on one of the buildings having both of them swing out of sight.
“Josh!” I yelled, jumping out of my swing, trying to grab him because even if Peter was my best friend, I knew that he could get reckless and accidently hurt Josh.
Of course Josh was just out of reach and I couldn’t grab him. “Peter.” I mumbled under my breath then started pacing until they came back.
“That was so AWESOME!” Josh exclaimed as they landed on the ground. He stumbled a bit and fell flat on the ground but he didn’t even look like it fazed him, his face in a full on grin. “Still awesome.” He concluded as he got up from his stomach.
“Could a fake do that?” Peter challenged while Josh made a fan boy squeal.
When Josh was near me I grabbed his arm and pushed him behind me, hissing under my breath. “You promised to make it quick. Not fly off with him!” I told my best friend, angrily.
