Chapter 1

Cassie’s POV

“Hey Cassie!” I heard someone yell my name.

I turned around, holding on to the strap of my side back pack curious to see who it was. It was about 10 minutes after school and everyone had cleared out except the teachers.

My decision to look behind me felt really stupid when I turned to see Eugene Thompson, nicknamed Flash. Flash Thompson: blonde hair, green eyes, muscular and tall body,  ladies’ man, player, Captain and Quarter Back of the football team. He was also the biggest high school jock- or I like to say jerk- on school campus.

“What do you want Flash?” I asked halfheartedly.

“Aw, don’t be like that.” He told me, finally catching up to me. “That’s no way to talk to your boyfriend.” Flash said and lazily placed his arms over my shoulders.

I cringed at what he said.

Ever since he asked me on a date and I said ‘no’ he’s made it his life goal to make me his girlfriend. I honestly just don’t think he’s smart enough to know what the word means. He’s dedicated and determined though, I’ll give him that.

“I’m not your girlfriend.” I gritted out, shrugging his arm off my shoulder and gripping my school bag strap tightly, trying to walk faster.

Just as soon as his arm was off me, it was back on my shoulders, tightly. Ignoring what I had just told him, Flash pondered aloud, “So I was thinking that you and I could go together to graduation together as a couple.”

A mock gasp came from my mouth. “You’re graduation?”

He rolled his eyes and continued to talk, “I could pick you up in my truck an hour and a half before so we can eat dinner than we can go to the graduation ceremony.”

I heaved a sigh, “Flash I’m not going to graduation with you.”

            “Why not?” He wined

“I’m already going with my friends, sorry.” I apologized, but I wasn’t even in the slightest bit sorry for not being able to go with him.

“Fine.” He huffed like a five year old then glanced at me from the corner of his eyes while he walked. “What about the senior party on Friday? Are you going to that?”

“Um… I don’t know.” I answered honestly, biting my lip. “Peter doesn’t really like to go to par-”

Flash cut me off with a scoff. “Puny Parker?” He asked, using the name that both Peter and I hated. “Why did you even hang out with that dork?” He insulted. “He’s in the ‘low group.’ You could be hanging out with us.”

I shoved away from Flash, glaring at him for insulting my best friend. “Maybe I hang out with him because he’s nice to me, unlike some people.” I snapped recalling the time that Flash made me sit on their table and all the stupid cheerleaders tried to make that lunch a living nightmare. He hadn’t even done anything about it.

“Ouch, babe.” He said, putting a hand over his heart in mock hurt.

“Don’t call me that.” I retorted then walked away briskly until Flash caught up with me and took my hand, forcing me to stop.
