Chapter 6
3rd Person’s POV
“You have to get her back!” Josh exclaimed frantically, tugging on Spiderman’s arm while pointing in the direction Cassie and the Vulture had disappeared to.
Peter’s mouth opened to say something then closed it as shock started to creep through him. Just like Harry, Cassie had been ripped away from Peter and he hadn’t done a thing about it. He should have thought of something!
“Stupid!” Peter shouted at himself, his hands going on his head and ripping out of Josh’s grip. “She told me this was going to happen.” He muttered to himself while his mind started to reel with ways to get Cassie back, he was not losing Cassie just like he lost Harry.
“We need to save her.” Josh said, his voice quivering. Tears were evident on his cheeks as his whole frame shook, not taking the fact that his sister was gone possibly forever.
Spiderman spun to face Josh. “We?” He repeated.
The 10 year old nodded.
“Let’s get something straight,” Peter said, his voice stern. “You are not coming. It’s too dangerous.”
“I want to help my sister!” Josh argued, clenching Cassie’s phone tightly in his hand.
Peter sighed, “I now you do bud but you need to be safe. I’ll find her alright?”
Josh’s eyes glittered with new tears, “Promise?” He asked, his lip quivering.
“I promise. But I need to get you somewhere safe, alright?” Once again, Josh nodded and Peter felt a weight of relief lift off his chest.
The crime fighting teenager held out his hand. “Let’s get you home.” He swung Josh over onto his back and tied one of his webs around the kid so he wouldn’t fall off. “Ready?” He asked.
“Ready.” Josh agreed and Peter jumped, swinging from his webs until they were at the apartment building that Josh lived at.
“How did you know where I live?” Josh’s eyes narrowed suspiciously.
A wave of panic went through Peter but he quickly recovered. “Peter said you lived next to him. Is that right?”
“Oh, yeah.” Josh nodded, accepting the answer.
“You be safe okay?” Peter asked Josh and once again he nodded.
“W-what should I tell Mom and Dad about Cassie?” Josh asked, his voice small.
Peter hesitated. “Tell her she’s… with a friend.”
“Alright.”
Underneath the mask, Peter smiled at Josh and nodded his head at him then spun a web on the building ready to jump but Josh stopped him.
“Spiderman.” He said quickly, walking towards his hero. “I know that if anyone can save her, you can.”
Once again Peter nodded, “I’ll do my best, kid.” He said then swung away, leaving the 10 year old clutching his sisters phone before walking inside to his apartment, having faith that Spiderman would bring his sister back.
As Peter swung throughout the city, he couldn’t help but blame himself for Cassie getting captured. He should have gotten up quicker or pushed them out of the way or….or something! He should have done something!
“I’ll find you Cassie.” Peter promised aloud. “I’ll find you.”
