Chapter 7
Cassie’s POV
When Vulture finally decided to put me down, he tied me up to a high building at the top which made me wish for having the metal dig into my arms again.
Vulture paced at the top of the building, looking for Spiderman while I tried to struggle free from the ropes.
“It won’t help.” His raspy voice said, making me jump and immediately stopped struggling. Slowly turn my head over to my kidnapper, meeting his cold eyes. He turned his head away from me and started to pace again.
“W-what do you want with me?” I asked, my voice shaking.
“Honestly it’s nothing to do with you. You just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. I truly have nothing against you but I have everything against Spiderman.” His voice twisted into anger upon saying the superhero’s name. “And if your death means Spiderman’s end, it has to be done.”
My body didn’t like being told that I would die as my stomach started to twist, threatening for my lunch to make a reappearance. “Oh please come.” I prayed softly aloud.
Vulture’s cruel laugh made me open my eyes again and look at him fearfully. “Even if he does come,” The man said, “What makes you think that he could save you?”
“Because he’s taken you down a hundred times before!” I hissed then immediately regretted my sudden ounce of bravery as the Vulture’s face twisted in hatred.
In seconds he was in front of me, holding my neck tightly, not enough to choke me but to make my heart beat faster, fearing that he would. “Do not mention my failure in front of me!” He hissed, his face so close to me I could smell his awful breath. My face turned and my eyes closed trying to block out his words. “I know of my mistakes but this time,” He gave an insane laugh, “This time I will succeed!”
He let go of my neck and turned sharply away, continuing his pacing letting me catch my breath.
My eyes wandered upwards to look for any sign of Peter coming to my rescue. Nothing unfortunately, I was going to die. Peter was my only hope. We were up so high that no one could see us besides the News Copter while the police where stuck on the ground since Vulture had locked all the doors. No one could help me without getting hurt themselves. If Peter didn’t hurry, Vulture would kill me. He was known to be a ruthless killer and that was terrifying.
I couldn’t help but have my eyes trail down towards the ground but immediately snapped them back up as I just saw that I was really, really, really far from the streets. I squeezed my eyes while praying that Peter would get here soon.
“Where is he?” Vulture muttered angrily, speaking my thoughts aloud.
“You know baldy,” A voice spoke up, making my heart fill with hope and look around for the voice. Spiderman leapt onto the building, revealing himself. “I’m flattered that you missed me, but sadly I can’t say the same about missing you.”
Vulture spun around, standing in front of me, to see Peter and showed his yellow teeth in a sinister smile. “Spiderman.” He greeted.
“Baldy!” Peter greeted back, feigning happiness while Vulture scowled at the name.
“Save your horrendous nicknames.” He hissed then smiled evilly and stood aside to reveal me.
