In Her Eyes

Sadness
I found
Comes in many forms
It's sending a goodnight text
And waking up to nothing
It's seeing their eyes
And a reflection of only yourself
It's their smile
Both without the creases around their eyes
It's knowing every single how
But not a single why
It's constant confrontation
And not a single affirmation
It's freezing cold rain
Running down your back
It's finding out finally
What it is you lack
Knowing that what you lack
Is something you cannot change
It's not only hearing them cry
But hearing the deep down pain
It's knowing everything about someone
And them pretending you aren't real
It's second guessing your existence
And all the darker shades of teal
It's affliction of self identity
And wanting to be yourself
But realizing they smile for them
And thinking change is going to help
It's holding on too tight
Because you think it will make them care
But your hands will soon start to crack
And they soon will not be there
It's the constant repetition of history
And never learning from mistakes
Getting hurt all over again
Because you think it's what it takes
All you can do is stare
No self control
Knowing it isn't fair
When your heart takes the toll
Knowing that they do not try
Yet still get what you yearn
And knowing that it's going to all crash apart
And the blazing fire will really burn
It's losing someone to a battle
Or losing one in a war
It's the sadness as such
The ones that keep me torn.
