Chapter 17 : Struggles in the Woods

Many years ago (The Walking Dead Season 2 Timeline)

"Wellington... sounds like paradise. I just hope we make it" I said.

We were sitting next to a campfire trying to keep warm. "Will never have to worry about all this again. Will have a home" said Christa.

"If only... the others made it" I whispered. Clementine hugged my arm. "I miss Lee" she said.

"We all do little one..." I said. I patted her head gently and gazed at the fire.

"I'm gonna find some more wood" said Christa. "You sure you want to go alone. We can help" I said.

"I don't want to lose anyone else. I'll be fine, just stay here and be careful" said Christa. She walked passed us and into into the woods. "I hate this hell we live in" I said.

"Hell is a good way to describe our situation" said Clementine. The fire started dieing out. "Shit... you got anything we can use to keep our heat source going" I asked.

Clementine got up and grabbed her back pack. She set it next to the tree branch we were sitting on and began searching through it. I took my back pack off and looked through mine to find something, particularly the TCRI files I had kept from Crawford.

I grabbed the documents and opened back up. In my time of reading through everything. I had discovered more on this TCRI. It turns out they were more advanced then most modern facilities. They were predominantly in the U.S. during the time before the outbreak.

"Still reading through that" asked Clementine. I chuckled and flipped through to the page about advanced weapons technology. "Yeah, I've stuck my head in this at least every week. TCRI is a very suspicious company. There's a lot of holes in the information I've gathered, things to that don't make since"

Clementine walked to the campfire and used the small resources she had to keep the fire going. "You think that man we encountered from the portal thing had anything to do with it" asked Clementine.

"I do. The personnel log shows the man we saw in here. However, there's no name for him. It's like he's never existed or something" I said.

"This company just seems odd. It's something I'm gonna keep up with in the future" I said as I closed the document. I put it back in my bag and sealed it.

"Well whatever it is. I'm sure you'll find answers" said Clementine. "Hopefully so..." I said.

Clementine and I started hearing voices. We turned our heads towards the direction Christa had gone. "Sounds like we got trouble" I said.

Clementine and I raced through the woods to find Christa. We stopped and hid behind some trees when we found her. "Shit... looks like locals" I said.

"Where's the rest of your group" asked one of the locals to Chrita. "I... I'm by myself" said Christa. "Bullshit" the local yelled.

I slowly grabbed my lightsaber and activated it's blaster. "What are you doing" asked Clementine.

"They'll kill her if we don't do something" I said. I aimed my lightsaber's blaster towards the local behind Christa and fired, hitting him in the leg.

"Christa run" yelled Clementine. As Christa ran off, the locals attention focused on us. "After those two"

Clementine and I ran back through the forest as fast as we could. "Maybe I should have used and alternative" I said. "Your plan was better than mine. I was going to distract them with a rock" said Clementine.

"Yep... my plan was better" I said sarcastically. We quickly hid behind some other trees. The local came behind us bit did not see where we were hiding. "Where the fuck are you two"

Clementine and I then ran from the tree and the local followed. "Get back here" yelled the local. We both stopped as soon as we saw the ledge in front of us.

The local grabbed Clementine and kicked me to the ground. "Stop fucking running you two" he yelled. I quickly grabbed my lightsaber and shot the local in the head with the blaster function.

Clementine fell from the his hands and I catches her. The local's dead body now lie in front of us. "Thanks" said Clementine as I let her go.

"That guy was an ass" I said. But before I could say anything else. The growling and hissing of walkers caught my attention. "There everywhere" said Clementine. We looked behind us to see a river flowing behind us.

"We need to jump" I said. I grabbed Clementine's arm and we plummeted into the body of water. "You could've warned me" yelled Clementine. "Technically I did" I yelled back.

We drifted at a fast rate through the flowing water, not knowing what to expect ahead of us.

Not to big if a flashback but a good amount to start. This story has really come along way for me and I'm glad I chose to write it. As I've mentioned before, this is a fun twist to the perfect story we were already give by Telltale. It's to bad they closed but I know all of us will hold them near and dear to our hearts.
