Present Day (The Walking Dead New Frontier Timeline)

"Come on Locke, sit down and have a drink" Clay insisted. I laughed a little and pointed towards the driver's seat. "You want me to sit and drink while Gabe is driving. You must be drunk yourself if you think I'm doing that"

"You need to relax man. Just cause your a jedi doesn't mean you can't have fun" said Clay. "Yeah... but I'm not going to be stupid either" I shot back.

"Come on man, have faith in Gabe" said Clay. I laughed a little again before I finally sat down. "Have faith, his driving is worse then mine. Are you sure he's driven before" I said. Clay didn't respond, which immediately gave me the answer.

Clay handed me a beer and I simply held it in my hand. "I'm not drinking bro" I said. "Right your majesty, I got just the thing" Clay replied. He dug into a container and pulled out a tiny little Yoohoo drink. I grabbed from his hands quickly and stabbed the little straw in the drink.

"You are unbelievable sometimes" said Clay. I took a drink of my Yoohoo before looking back at Clay. "You should have seen Clementine. She drink fucking juice boxes" I said.

"Juice boxes... Yoohoo. God, you two are fucking weird" said Clay. We both laughed at each other for a little bit. It's good to have times like these, it gives us hope.

---------------------------------------------------------

"Continue forward, I want to get to New York before sunset" I ordered. "You've got it boss" Clay replied.

New York was not to far away. Surprisingly the path to the city was clear. There was minimal obstacles to dodge. It felt strange, very strange. Highways are usually never this clear. Perhaps the Kraang have been through here.

"Boss, our scout patrol is contacting us" said Clay. I pushed the button in front of me, a hologram of Sam and Lonnie appeared in front of me. "Status report" I said.

"You need to get here and fast" said Sam. I raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Why, what's going on" I asked. "Come see for yourself" Lonnie finished. The hologram shut off.

"That was odd" said Clay. He's definitely right on that. They must have found something important.

"How much further till we reach Sam's coordinates" I asked. "I'd give it about another hour, maybe less" said Clay.

"This rusty old Fleetwood trailer came in handy after all" I said to Clay. He chuckled a little before responding. "Rusty is an understatement to be honest, but it is useful for the travel" said Clay.

We continued forward, waiting until we approached the city.

---------------------------------------------------------

"Stop the trailer" I ordered. Clay slammed on the brakes, bringing us to a complete stop.

I turned to the door to my right and kicked it open. I darted outside and faced our destination. I couldn't believe it, New York is on fire. Various parts of the city were smothered in smoke.

"Holly shit" said Clay behind me. Ava came out of the trailer from behind him and gasped at the site. "Oh my... god" she said.

"This is far worse than we thought" I said. There's no doubt that the Kraang are responsible for this. That can mean only one thing. The invasion is not to far away.

"What do we do" Clay asked. I stayed silent, continuing to look at the destruction before us. The truth is, I don't know what to do. "We should rendezvous with Sam and the other scouts" said Ava. Glad she stepped in because I sure couldn't right now.

"Agreed, we can figure out the plan then" I said. We all took one last look at New York before we got back in the trailer. There's no backing out now, Earth needs us.

Clementine... I hope you're safe.

A short chapter today my readers. It's been a thrill to go no this journey with you all. Thanks for sticking with me until the end😁
