Chapter 21 : Kenny's Return

Many years ago (The Walking Dead Season 2 Timeline)

"I don't believe it" I said. "Kenny" said Clementine. We were both in shock to see are old friend had survived. We both rushed to him a hugged him tightly. "How in god's name are you alive" I asked in my excitement.

"It's good to see you too Locke... both of you" said Kenny. A man in a red long sleeve shirt came next to him. "I take it you know these young ones" he asked. Kenny released us and held on to my shoulder. "I do... these are the bravest youngsters I've ever met"

"Clementine... Locke. You sure we can trust these guys" asked Luke. I looked back at him to answer. "Yes, we can. There's no one else out there we trust more than him" I said.

"Let's get you inside... all of you" said Kenny. He got back up and showed us to the door. Clementine and I were the first to enter, followed by Kenny and the man in the red shirt who greeted us. It had been awhile since we last had a place to stay. Sure Luke and his group helped us out at there place but... this place we were at now, it was loads better. It even had working electricity.

"You all like it? Kenny and his partner Sarita have been staying with us here for a few weeks. This used to be an old ski lodge, obviously, so we have plenty of food" said the man. "It's amazing that you still have electricity" I remarked. "We have a wind turbine out back. Thanks to that, we've been fortunate enough to have power" said the man.

We approached the stairs that led up to the dining area. "We tend to keep the lights off at night to avoid attention" the man continued. Kenny turned around and looked at us, he began silently mocking his friend's conversation. "After we found this stuff in storage, we couldn't resist" said the man. Clementine and I chuckled a little bit at Kenny's funny impersonation of his friend.

"What's funny" the man asked when he turned around. "Ohh nothing Walt" said Kenny. He then walked behind his friend and tapped him on the back. "Walter here is one smart son of bitch. Makes a mean can of beans too" said Kenny.

Walter laughed along with us. "Well, why don't you three catch up while I get some dinner started" he said.

Luke along with the others who were outside eventually came in the lodge and looked around in a little shock. "Please make yourself at home. You can leave your things over there" Walter said as he was pointing at a nearby bench to there right. "The hell we will" said Rebecca. "Yeah, I'm holding on to my rifle. Thanks" said Nick.

"You're are guest here. There's no need to worry" said Walter. Nick looked over to Kenny who was still holding his gun. "Tell him to put his gun down then"

"Kenny... will you" asked Walter. Kenny looked at Luke and the group and then to us. "Will you vouch for these" Kenny asked us.

"They're good Kenny. It's been hard to find people to trust... but we trust them" I said. Just as I said that, the doors opened again and Carlos, Sarah and Sarita entered. "Dad look! A Christmas tree" said Sarah in excitement. "Not now Sarah" said Carlos.

"Isn't it great. We found it all in storage" said Sarita. "It's amazing" said Sarah. The childlike personality of Sarah was funny but normal at the same time. In a world like this, she manages to find all the happy things in it. Kenny and Sarita exchanged looks and eventually he walked down the stairs. He put down his rifle on the floor then looked at Luke and the others. With some hesitation at first, our friends eventually walked to the bench and put there weapons and gear down. Clementine and I put are backpacks underneath the bench, I put my lightsaber inside my backpack to keep it out of plain site.

"Good. If you all will follow me. I'll show you were you can sleep" said Sarita. She walked up the stairs along with everyone else. Kenny waited for Clementine and I and guided us with the others. As we walked, Clementine noticed a fireplace in the lodge and was fascinated by it. She walked closer to it and sat on one of the couches in front of it. "It's amazing this is lodge is in one piece" I said as I sat to the right of Clementine. I layed back and relaxed.

Kenny sat at the left end of the couch and looked at us both with happiness. "You two are not much different from the last I saw ya. Locke and your jedi laser sword and Clementine and your dirty old hat" said Kenny. "You know. I have expected to see Lee walk up next to you. You all were like one big happy family... completely inseparable"

Clementine looked over to me, I placed my right hand over my face. Losing Lee was one of the hardest things we had to deal with. Kenny noticed this upset us immediately regretted bringing Lee up. "Ah shit, I didn't mean to... It's just hard not to think about it, you know"

"He saved me" said Clementine. "I knew it, I knew he would. That guy had a fire in him, sure as shit" said Kenny. "Hell... he was a hell of guy. When my son... well... he took care of him. I'll never forget that"

"So where'd you two end up" Kenny asked. "Christa and Omid... we were with then after we left the city. Omid... he didn't make it. We stayed with Christa until we got ambushed in the woods. We haven't seen her since" I said. "It's been rough... luckily we found Luke and tagged with him" said Clementine.

"I thought you died... in the alley. How did you..." I asked. "Well, it was harder than hell. After I shut the gate on you and Lee, I was able to get out of the alley. It's a miracle I even made it..." said Kenny. "Long story short, I got lucky. Spent a long time alone after that. It uh..." Kenny stopped. "Then I met Sarita, thank God. Gosh, it's great to have you two back"

Sarita walked behind Kenny and placed her left hand on his shoulder. "You all catching up" she asked. "Locke and Clementine, this is my girl Sarita. Ain't she beautiful" said Kenny. It must be happy for him to have someone close after he lost Katjaa. "It's nice to meet you both" said Sarita.

"I'm glad you're doing well Kenny. It's good to see you smiling again" I said. I got up and stretched my arms a little. "You got any need for help" I asked. Kenny got up and grabbed my shoulder. "As a matter of fact I do. The storm is gonna be rolling in soon, I could use a hand in getting supplies inside"

"Nick and I can help to" said Luke as he and the others were coming downstairs. I looked to Kenny and smiled. "Just like the Motel" I said with a chuckle. "Now now... we don't bring up the bad memories Locke" said Kenny with a chuckle.

Well it certainly has been awhile since I last posted. My apologies my readers, the new story I'm copywriting with my friends has occupied most of my time but were currently taking a slight break on it. I hope you all are having and excellent 2019 year😁

We're getting close to the end of this story but it doesn't mean Locke's adventures are ending. I do plan on writing a sequel set in TWD The Final Season which will focus on the aftermath of a tragic loss to Phoenix Squadron. Locke and some survivors will regroup with Clementine and will face the threats of the Walkers and the scattered Kraang forces. It might be sometime before I do that but it will happen. I'm so excited for the final season of Telltale's amazing game. It's going to be a rollercoaster of fun😁
