Chapter 18 : Chaos in Richmond

Present Day (The Walking Dead New Frontier Timeline)

BOOM!!!

"Holly shit" yelled Clementine. The blast was close enough to the tanker truck that it to ignited and exploded. When the smoke lifted revealing a large whole in Richmond's wall. Walkers eventually started pouring through.

"Son of a bitch... Phoenix Squadron, form a perimeter. Keep the walkers from getting in" I yelled.

I punched Joan in the face then forced her against the stage. "What the hell have you done" I yelled. "Secured Richmond's fate" said Joan. "By killing everyone" I asked. "I knew there was a chance you'd win so I installed a back up plan, and it worked" said Joan. I backed up and then kicked her in the stomach, forcing her to the ground.

"Activate sonic blasters... I repeat activate sonic blasters" yelled Clay. He and the rest of Phoenix Squadron ran as close to the breach as possible and began firing at the walkers.

We never used our sonic blasters in town unless there was a herd, which we almost never got. The disadvantage of our secondary sonic blasters was that they made a hell of a lot of noise. Just firing one shot attracted a good amount of walkers. However, they instantly killed the targeted walker and didn't require headshots. This weapon attachment to our phoenix blasters was just one of the other technological innovations I had discovered during my journeys.

"Locke... how can we help" asked Max. "Watch Joan and get your men to that breach. We have to give the civilians enough time to get to safety" I said. Max gave Joan to Lonnie and proceeded to the breach along with his other New Frontier friends.

I looked to Javi and Gabe. "Get inside and stay there" I said.

"Javi, go get Kate. She doesn't want to get caught in this" said Clementine.

"Clementine, you should go with them. You'll be safer" I said.

"Not this time. I'm staying to help and you're not changing my mind" said Clementine. "Alright but stay close. I don't want the herd taking your life" I said.

"Lonnie, take her to a secure room. I don't want her dead until I get answers out of her" I said. "You got it" he said. Lonnie then took Joan and ran.

"Good luck you two" said Javi. "Will be find, just take care of your friends" I said. Clementine and I ran to Clay. We stopped behind him.

"Glad you could join the party boss" said Clay. "That bitch Joan sure fucked Richmond"

"She had her own agenda all along. I should have expected her to pull a move like this" I said. I grabbed my phoenix blaster and activated it. I then began firing sonic blast at the walkers.

"Hey, you saved David and the others. Give yourself some credit" said Clementine. She activated her lightsaber's blaster and began firing at the walkers as well.

"I may have succeeded but now there's more hell I've got to fight" I said. I looked back to see how many more people were still in the streets. There wasn't to many left from what I could tell.

"Your girlfri... I mean friend really knows how to shoot" yelled Clay. "Settle down with the jokes Clay" I said sarcastically.

"They just keep coming" yelled Max. "Locke, my boys and I are running low on ammo"

I looked at the coming walkers as there presence grew in front of us. I knew we would have to pull a retreat soon. I looked back behind me to see if there was still people around, thankfully there were not. I then looked towards Max. "Fall back Max, Phoenix Squadron and I will cover you" I said.

"Copy that. New Frontier, fall back to the buildings" ordered Max. As he and his people fled the fight, Phoenix Squadron and I continued are relentless assault on the walkers. Our sonic blaster attachments were continuing to give us an edge but not much.

"Boss, we won't be able to hold on forever" said Clay. "Trust me, I know" I responded.

The walkers were getting closer and closer to us by the minute. One of the walkers made it to one of my men and grabbed his arm, ready to bite. I quickly reacted and shot the walker in the head.

"Ok, everyone fall back. Get inside and quickly. We'll regroup as soon as we can" I ordered. We all stepped back and ran to the buildings closest to us. Clementine and I stuck together, along with Clay and some the others running right began us.

I opened the doors and allowed everyone else to go in first. "Hurry up, those damn things are getting close" I yelled. When everyone was clear I shut the doors and locked them. "Barricade this Clay, I don't want any visitors" I said.

"Got it boss" said Clay. He then ordered the others to help him with the task. I walked to Clementine and patted her shoulder. "You did great out there. I didn't think you remembered the training" I said.

Clementine suddenly grabbed me and pulled me into a tight hug. I hugged her back and patted her head. "I thought she killed you..." said Clementine. She then pulled away and put her hand on the two burned scars on the left side of my face.

"She hurt you" Clementine whispered. I grabbed her hand and pulled it away. "Look on the bright side. We now both have scars on our faces" I said. I placed my hand on the scar she had on the right side of her face. "I... I got this at Wellington" said Clementine.

"Where I left you behind... when I came back, everything was destroyed. I was worried you... you died" I said.

"Well... I escaped. AJ and I lived to fight another day. I hope we find him" said Clementine. "We will little one I promise" I said.

She smiled and then pulled my face to hers and kissed the scars on my face. I was surprised but did not fight her. "When this is all over... we need to seriously talk about us" said Clementine. "Us..." I asked.

"There you two are" said someone to the left of us. We turned around to see who it was. I smiled when I saw it was Gabe. He was standing on the upper staircase smiling at us. "So what were you doing. Was I interrupting" asked Gabe.

"You might have" said Clementine. I shook my head in embarrassment. "Where's Javi and the others" I asked.

"There with David... interrogating Joan" said Gabe. Clementine and I both looked at each other with worry. "Shit... that's not good" said Clementine. "We need to get to him before he kills her" I said.

"What's wrong with my dad" asked Gabe in curiosity. "Joan is the only person who knows the full story behind the massacre of my Master and the jedi temple. Your dad has a temper and if we don't stop him, he could kill her in anger" I said.

"Well come on, let's go" said Clementine. She grabbed my hand and pulled me up the stairs. Gabe followed behind us. I have questions, and Joan is the only one who has the answers.

We're nearing the end of TWD A Ne Frontier. After that, we will dive into to the threat of the Kraang. Locke will be put up against a new threat and I can't wait to dive into it.
