Chapter twenty one

Katherine's POV

It was getting late already and everyone was starting to leave and I'm still yet to find Lavi. It as if he just vanished into tin air.

Gosh

Aunty Nene and my dad had played the perfect host by handing everyone some delicious cupcakes,sprinkled with sweet little candies. They looked so yummy and mouth watering that I couldn't even resist when I saw them.

I walked over to James hanging on to loveth like a life boat the moment I spot them at the main entrance. He looks like he was getting ready to leave even though Lavi is no where seen in their mist.

"Hello Jay.. Are you leaving already?"

"Uhm yeah.. I told my parent I will be home before 7pm so I should get going" looking at his watch.

"That's okay! Just wanted to thank you for coming and you too loveth. I didn't think you would come you know?"

"Well I didn't think you will invite me either but you did so I showed up just like everyone else" she shrugged

Well I didn't exactly invite you... Obi did but you don't have to know that anyway..

"Thanks for showing up really... I appreciate the love even though we ain't great friends"

"I know and I hope that too is going to change as well cos they is really no point in fighting anymore"

Following the direction of her hands. I can see that,they are intertwine with that of James and if my guess is right. They could be what I think they are...

"Yeah me too" I replied with a smile turning to James who keep shifting uncomfortably from one foot to the next..

"Uhm,have you seen Lavi? I can't seem to find him anywhere" changing topic before it get more awkward

"Not really.. Only saw him dancing earlier and right after the dance he seemed to have disappeared" answered James with an unsure look on his face

"Do you think maybe he left?" loveth had chipped in.

"I don't think so?" Replied James even though it sounded more like a question than an answer causing my stomach to shut down literally.

"I will just go look for him again. Maybe he is around here somewhere" I answered nervously.

"In case you see him, tell me to call me when he gets home" said James

"Oh okay"

I didn't find him anywhere even as I search through the little corner rounding the back yard and am beginning to feel like he doesn't want to be found and hell! I don't even know where I might have dropped my cellphone. Calling him out would have been much easier than looking for him.

Where exactly is he hiding? It's not like our compound has suddenly transformed itself into some ancient maze.

Could it be that he left already?

I hope not...I really hope not!

"Hey Katherine. Are you okay? You have been going round in circle. Are you looking for someone?" Asked obi as he stood in my way.

Not now please

"Yes I am. Now would you get out of my way?"

He shifted from one foot to the next but didn't move completely.

"I'm really sorry Katherine and I need you to believe me please"

"I do believe you okay but I need time to get use to..."

"...Trusting me again?" Completing the sentence for me.

"Yeah..trust you again"

"It's okay.. I understand"

Well am glad you do so can you get out of my way now..

"If you are looking for Lavi, maybe you should check him back at the poolside" he said to me before walking away.

Whispering after him even though his back was already turned to me now.

Why didn't I think of it sooner? Now that I remember. It seemed that the only place left to look.
