DISCLAIMER: I OWN NOTHING
FAITH POV
There was a boy about my age in front of me. He had dark black hair with dark black eyes and pale skin. His onyx eyes were wide. He had a dirty, oversized sweater with black jeans and black tennis shoes. He looked like a ghost with how pale he was. "Sorry I scared you..." he said shyly. "I'm River..." he says. I stare at him. "Jax sent me here to give you this..." River grabs a silver platter. It had food...actual food. It was served in shiny plastic China tea cups. The kind little girls would play with to have a tea party. He hands it to me cautiously as if I was going to attack him. I grab the platter and sit down on the old wooden play chair. I stare at the food. Jax taught me of a way to find out if food was poisonous. I hated using his techniques to use..but I knew they were valid. He had shown me how every single poison known to man has its small effects on food and water. He used different chemicals on food and pointed them out. The food and drink looked fine. I took a bite of the bread. It was warm, and soft. I looked up at River and saw him staring at the piece of bread in my hand.
"Do you want some?" I ask. He quickly shakes his head. I stare at him waiting for an explanation as to why. He looked really skinny. Too skinny.
"Blade doesn't let me eat food unless he says I can..." River mumbles.
"Blade?" I ask. What kind of a name is Blade? I know every single stupid name in the snakes gang....I've never herd of Blade.
"Leader of the scorpions..." River says.
"The scorpions? Aren't they rivals with the snakes?" I ask.
"Three years ago they made an alliance....Blade is Jax's brother, they had gone off on their own separate paths. They ended up being the leaders of two rival gangs...so they allied....they're still two separate groups. They just cover and help each other....and they don't kill each other's gang members..." River explains.
"So you're a part of the scorpions?" I ask.
"Not really...I just maintain the place here...I make sure things are as clean as they can be..."
"Why is your name River?," River smiles shyly.
"Well...Blade found me near a River when I was a few months old...so....that's why my name is River," He explains.CLARY POV
The phone rings in the office. I pick it up and say "Hello, Herondale Inc. how may I help you?" I ask.
"Hello, this is Principal Freeman from Graystone academy, could you please connect me to Mr.Herondale or Mrs.Fray please?" She asks.
"This is Mrs.Fray..." I explain slowly. The principal clears her throat.
"Mrs.Fray........there was a shooting this morning.." The principal says.
"What?" I ask. I thought I would've yelled it so loud the whole office would've heard. But instead, it was low and afraid.
"Three teachers were shot, one survived...all our students are completely fine...but...Faith was taken from her classroom...she had no harm done to her for as far as we know but-,"
"You're supposed to protect her! That's why we're paying a fortune for Faith to be in your school! So that she can be protected from the second she touches school grounds to the second she steps off! That is your duty and responsibility as an educational establishment -,"
"Mrs.Fray, please come down to the school so we can talk about this with Faith's father thank you very much," she says. I growl as I slam the phone down. Tears blur my eyes as I realize that someone took my baby...Faith is missing. What do you think of River? Do you think he'll help Faith escape? Will he betray her?
