Lyla was sitting in her office during her lunch hour and grading papers and eating some left over chicken and dumplings she made the night before out of a can. Bucky knocked on the door frame that connects their office.
She was about to take a bit and she said "Hey."
"What are you doing?' he said
"I'm eating lunch and grading papers." she said
He shook his head and walked over to her desk. "Lyla.." he said
"What?' she said
"Please tell me that's not canned chicken and dumplings?' he said
"I um.. well it's just me and the girls aren't big enough for this so yes it is." she said
He bit his lip and said "What are you doing after practice tonight?'
"Um picking up the girls and going home to eat a frozen pizza." she said
He smiled and said "No.. come with me tonight."
"Come with you where?' she said
"My parents have this tradition since me and my sister moved out that Monday nights are family dinner nights and I want you to come and I want you to bring the girls I have a niece that is 2 which I"m sure you know and I have nephew that is 4." he said
"James I um I don't want to just show up uninvited to your parents house." She said
"You aren't. I'm inviting you to dinner at my parents place. Come on Lyla when was the last time you had a home cooked meal that wasn't out of a can or a frozen pizza or whatever else you are eating." he said
She looked down and he said "Lyla please.. it's better than a frozen pizza and mac and cheese for the girls."
She swallowed hard and said "Okay."
"Great.. I"ll let my brother in law know so he can bring extra high chairs." he said as he pulls out his phone.
She finished up food and went to get her class from the lunchroom. She finished out her day with classes. She went to the gym and her and Natasha got set up for practice. After practice was over Bucky stuck the address on her driver side door. She got in her car and turned "I'm Survivor" by Reba and started to sing along and Bucky heard her leaving and he smiled.
She went by the daycare and picked up the girls and went back to their apartment and took a quick shower. She straighten out her blonde hair and did her make up again and changed the girls and fixed their hair.

She got them in their carseats and put the address in her GPS and turned on some music with her Spotify app and turned up "Used To Love You" by Gwen Stefani. She backed out of the spot and she started to sing along and played drums on her steering wheel.
