                                                                           Loki/Leo/Loke

Leo sat beside the badly beaten female, not leaving her side for even a moment as she rested. Lucy's blonde hair was splayed out on the pillow, surrounding her sweet face like a golden halo. Her heavily bandaged body made Leo feel disgusted with himself. He blamed himself for not being able to find her in time. His eyes darkened as his hands curled into fists. "Lucy..." he said softly, his anger fading as he looked at the sleeping girl. He ran a hand through his spiky hair, waiting for her to wake up. It had already been three days and he had yet to see her open her eyes and smile. He had hardly eaten or slept since he had carried Lucy's small body to the guild. Anyone could tell that he was worried about her.

Lucy's eyes fluttered and slowly opened, causing Leo to lean forward, is face lighting up as she gave a weak smile that made his heart skip a beast. "L-Leo...?" He stifled a laugh at her confused tone, obviously the pain killers the nurse had given her had already kicked in, she seemed surprised that he was there beside her. "You're awake..." his voice was soft and somewhat relieved as he softly kissed Lucy's bandaged head. Lucy slowly rose, wrapping her shaking arms around Leo's waist, smiling ever so slightly when he wrapped his arms around her. "You're okay..." He murmured in her ear as she rested her head against his chest and cried, silent tears. "T-they... wanted to... know where... you were" she said softly, in between sobs.

"Ssh... it's all over now..." Leo said, trying to comfort her as she cried. So far nobody else had realized that she was awake, that or they were giving them both some privacy for some reason. His eyes slowly shut as he breathed a small sigh of relief. "Do not worry about me..." he continued with a calm that surprised even himself. He had the feeling he knew exactly why those men were after him, but he was going to refrain from telling her that. Her hair felt as soft as silk against his cheek as they sat there in that same embrace for a few more minutes. "Lucy... I've gotta go" Leo's tone was soft as he gently pulled away from her, looking at Lucy with unbidden affection as he slowly stood and walked away, leaving a silent Lucy to fight her own demons for the time beings.

"I'll come running no matter where you are, even if you don't shed any tears" were his parting words as the door shut behind him. Lucy watched as his shadow against the door slowly faded, signaling that he had left altogether. Leo's footsteps were silent as he slowly made his way through the guild, announcing that Lucy had awaken before walking through the doors and heading outside. He felt somewhat empty as he felt a wetness on his cheeks. Curious, he brought his fingers up to his face. Tears? Why am I crying? Leo seemed unsure of himself as he walked down to the riverside, pausing under a tree before he returned to the spirit realm, convincing himself that he was just crying tears of relief.
