Namor felt achy when he opened his eyes, his whole body feeling sore. He looked around, vision slow to focus, but it did, finally enabling him to see Roman clearly.
The prince looked at him, eyes lighting up as he realized he was awake. "Hey," he breathed. A smile crossed his lips.
"Roman?" he said, feeling confused. "What... what are you doing here? Where am I?"
He was sitting up, rubbing his eyes as he yawned. One of the effects of him staying in the Dream Kingdom for long periods of time was forgetfulness. "You're in my palace," the creative Side said gently. "Remember the fight with Deceit? You were really hurt. We brought you back here so I could heal you."
"Yeah, okay, but what are you doing here?" he asked, narrowing his black and red eyes and looking sad. "You hate me."
Roman felt his chest constrict. "No, no, Nay," he rushed out, taking his hand in his.
The dark prince blinked in shock at the touch. He wasn't used to physical contact; until his little hand-holding escapade with Virgil in the gardens, he hadn't had comforting physical contact in years. He definitely wasn't used to this touch from the creative Side of all people.
"I don't hate you," the prince said, looking wounded and upset at the idea. He sighed, squeezing his hand. "I'm sorry, I know I haven't been fair to you."
Namor, being inexperienced with this, looked awkward and unsure. "I mean, you were pretty clear of how you felt about me..."
"I was angry, and I was wrong," he explained, desperation in his voice. "Please Nay, I don't hate you. I shouldn't have treated you the way I did. It's not an excuse, but I didn't understand you, or the value of having both light and dark. I learned, I became better."
The dark prince swallowed, looking choked up as a small smile crossed his lips. "Really?"
"Virgil taught me," he said, smiling affectionately as he rubbed circles into the back of his hand. "I wasn't kind to him either, but he taught me that I need the people who are different from me. I can't do everything on my own. Anxiety is the reason I as Creativity became such a prominent Side of Thomas, and the two of you keep him vigilant and grateful of the good in his life. I understand that now."
Namor grinned, finally feeling understood by the prince. A tear slipped down his pale cheek as he looked over at the sleeping anxious Side. "He's really wonderful, isn't he?" he said, unable to keep the stupid grin off his face.
"Yes he is, but you're pretty wonderful too," Roman said, leaning forward to touch their foreheads together.
The dark prince flushed and laughed a little. "So you're still just as charismatic, flirty, and smooth," he said, smiling wide enough to show his little fangs. "I really missed you Ro."
"I missed you too, Nay," he replied, reaching up to cup his cheek as he stayed close.
Virgil stirred across the room, clearly waking up. "Oh, right, I was hoping you'd be open to trying a poly relationship with Virge and I," the creative Side said, pulling away to gesture to him. "He really loves you, as do I, and the three of us all kinda... fit together in a way."
"He wants that?" Namor asked, looking hopeful.
The anxious Side got up and walked across the room, looking sleepy as he crawled onto the bed in between the two princes. "Of course I want that," he mumbled as he curled into the dark prince's chest and dragged Roman onto the bed along with him.
The three of them smiled as they held each other close, finally feeling relaxed after what felt like a lifetime of fear, stress, and worry. They were just about to fall asleep when the anxious Side's eyes shot open. "Oh shit, Patton must be freaking out," he muttered in realization.
"Don't worry, I handled it-" Roman started.
"What did you tell him?!" he interrupted.
"Just that you were kidnapped and that I'd handle it!"
"You've gotta be kidding me..." he sighed, pinching the bridge of this nose.
The two princes bursted into fits of laughter, which Virgil joined in with his own soft giggles as he burrowed further into the covers.
The End.
