Chapter 15

When comes Saturday night, Alec was stressed to the highest degree. Everything was ready at home to welcome the guests: music, food ... In fact, it was mostly thanks to Isabelle. She never missed an opportunity to organize a party and she had a lot of fun doing it. She and Alec had invited Jace, Simon, and friends from their respective universities. Magnus and Jason too, of course.

 Under the guidance of Izzy, Alec had dressed for the occasion: he had put on the same outfit as for his first date with Magnus, and he smiled at this memory. Isabelle was stunning as always, not depriving herself of an opportunity to put on a dress. Alec put his collar back on, and went down the stairs from his room to the living room. Isabelle was already downstairs with Simon, and she welcomed the first guests.

"Finally, you're there!" she said. "It took you a while to get ready!"

"Because I think this shirt is too short," Alec replied. I feel like I'm going to choke. Seriously Izzy, next time try to find clothes to my size!"

"Don't say that, you're handsome! Come on, relax and have a little fun! After all, it's your evening!"

Relaxing... It was easy to say. Now, he was wondering if this party was a good idea. But hey, it was too late to go back now. And what could possibly go wrong?

"Hey Alec" Simon said, "so you and Magnus are together? I'm so happy for both of you. 

"Yeah ... and thank you Simon." 

"And is it going well?" 

Alec liked Simon, but the questions about his relationship were too much. He just nodded with a little smile. At that moment, Jace arrived with Clary, his new girlfriend. Alec had never seen her before, because it was not long since she and Jace were together. 

Jace slapped Alec on the back. 

"Buddy, how are you? I didn't know that you were the type of guy to do parties! I see you rather homebody you know!" 

Alec smiled. 

"Very funny Jace. But you see, anything is possible. And now, will you introduce me to your girlfriend?" 

"Yes, of course. Alec, this is Clary. Clary, this is Alec, my best friend since childhood." 

Clary smiled at Alec and shook his hand. He thought she looked nice. 

"Well, what about you?" Jace said. "Where is Magnus?"

"He has not arrived yet but it's just a matter of time. He should not be long." 

Alec was just wondering who between Magnus or Jason would come first, when the doorbell rang. Isabelle went to open, and it was Jason who came into the apartment, a big smile on his face. When he saw Alec, his smile widened. 

"Who is this guy?" Jace whispered to Alec. 

"It's a long story," Alec replied. "'ll explain to you later." 

Jace didn't tell Alec about it, but he had a very bad feeling. Jason walked over to Alec and as in the park, he wanted to take him in his arms. But Alec stepped back. 

"Jason, forget about it." 

"Are you kidding me? Jason said. "Why did you invite me then? You said you didn't want to see me anymore, and the next day you invite me to a party?" 

Behind Jason, Isabelle was watching Alec. She gave him a look of concern but he ignored her. Alec couldn't answer Jason's question because the bell rang again. To escape Jason, he went to open himself. He felt Jason's gaze on him as he headed for the front door. 

Opening, Alec relaxed. It was Magnus and he was more beautiful than ever, wearing a burgundy shirt and black pants. He threw himself into Alec's arms and kissed him.

 "Well, I don't dream, you really organized a party!" 

"Actually, it's more like Isabelle and me ..." 

"It doesn't matter. The simple fact that you thought of organizing a party is a already a feat!," Magnus teased.

 "Come in instead of making fun of me!" 

Alec and Magnus entered the living room. Magnus held Alec by the hand and he didn't intend to let go of him. Alec immediately saw Jason's gaze. He was looking at Alec and Magnus hands intertwined. He was trying to hide his fury. Now he understood why Alec wanted to invite him. However, he didn't show it and walked over to Magnus and Alec. 

 "Oh Magnus, uh, this is Jason ... it's ... a friend from university..."

It was false of course but Alec had only found that excuse. Jason reached for Magnus. 

"Hi, nice to meet you," Magnus said, smiling and shaking his hand. 

Alec couldn't have imagined a more embarrassing moment. Isabelle suddenly appears before him. 

"Alec, can I talk to you for a moment, please?" 

And without being able to defend himself, she pulled him by the sleeve and dragged him into the kitchen and closed the door. She was furious. 

"Are you kidding me, Alec? You still have not said anything to Magnus about Jason?" 

"I haven't had the opportunity!" 

"Why didn't you tell him the last time you saw him?" 

"I couldn't!!!" 

Alec was desperate but he understood Isabelle's anger. He knew it was wrong to lie to Magnus like that.

"Do you realize what position it puts you in? And do you think of the moment Magnus would know? Because you will have to tell him one day!!" 

Magnus entered the kitchen at that moment. "Tell me what ?" he asked maliciously. 

"Uh, that I'm so glad you're here tonight," Alec said hurriedly. "Come on we'll welcome the other guests." 

Alec pulled Magnus by the hand, ignoring Isabelle's furious look. A dozen guests arrived and in a short time, the music invaded the entire living room. Isabelle was with Simon, Jace with Clary. All the guests seemed to have fun. Alec, meanwhile, was with Magnus. But no sign of Jason, which didn't reassure him. 

"Are you okay?" Magnus asked, wrapping Alec in his arms. 

"Yes, and I'm glad you came." 

Magnus ran his hand over Alec's cheek. He moved closer to him and kissed him.

An hour later, the party was in full swing. Alcohol was circulating among the guests, and everyone was dancing. Alec, who was not used to all this excitement, decided to withdraw from all this agitation. He told Magnus he needed to clear his head. Alec left the crowd and climbed the stairs to get to his room. He needed to sit down a bit, far from all that noise and music. But when he reached the door of his room, he stopped on the spot. Jason was sitting in front of his bedroom door. As soon as he saw Alec, a small smile appeared on his face. He got up. 

"You took your time," Jason said. "I was wondering when you would finally come. Now the real party can begin."
