Chapter 21

Magnus waited patiently for Alec's explanation.

"I don't know where to start," Alec admitted.

"First, tell me who Jason really is.

Alec took a deep breath.

"I've known Jason for years. He had always wanted to be with me, but I've always pushed him away. But he never gave up on me, he kept calling me, sending me messages ... At the end I didn't answer at all because I was fed up. But since not long, he came back in my life.

"Since when?" Magnus asked.

"A few days after our first meeting."

Alec paused and continued:

"He kept calling me, making statements, telling me that I should be with him ... I didn't know what to do ..."

"But why didn't you tell me about it?"

"Because something happened, Magnus. Something I'm afraid to admit to you."

"I'm listening to you. You can tell me everything."

"One day, Jason had called me. He told me he just wanted to talk. I agreed, thinking he would leave me alone once and for all if I agreed to talk to him. And when we saw each other ... he kissed me by surprise, it was totally against my will!! I pushed him away immediately, I assure you that I have never been consenting!

Magnus's look didn't express anything. And he didn't answer right away.

"Magnus, please, say something," Alec begged.

Magnus seemed to think. He didn't seem angry or sad. Just in his thoughts.

"That explains everything then," Magnus finally said. "That explains why you were not well and so stressed. And that's why you wanted to organize this party: to prove to Jason that you already had someone in your life.

Alec turned his head away.

"Magnus I'm so sorry! If I had known how bad it would go, I would never have organized this damn party!"

Magnus gently placed his fingers on Alec's cheek and turned his head so that he looked at him.

"I understand Alec. And I don't blame you. I know you would never have cheated on me. But you should have told me about it right away, I would have understood."

"I know I should have told you about it. But I was so scared that you leave me after I told you everything. I can't bear to live without you, Magnus."

"I won't have left you for that Alec. And I can't live without you either."

Alec threw himself into his arms.

"I'm so mad for making you suffer, Magnus."

Magnus hugged him in his arms.

"Alec, I want you to promise me that from now on you won't hide anything from me anymore. We face the problems together."

"I promise. I never want anything like this to happen in the future. Never again."

Magnus nodded.

"Now, tell me what happened after you found me," Magnus said.

"When I arrived at your place, you were half-unconscious. Jason didn't stop hitting you and..."

Alec swallowed. Then he continued:

As soon as I climbed the stairs of your apartment, I felt that something was wrong. And when I saw the front door half open, I immediately thought it wasn't normal. When I entered, I saw Jason sprawl over you, hitting you. I didn't think for a second: I grabbed him and screwed him to the ground. Literally. If you hadn't been so bad, I would have hit him. But time was pressing, you had fainted. It was absolutely necessary that I take you away from him. Before leaving for the hospital, I called Jace, you know my best friend. It turns out that his girlfriend Clary has a friend who is a policeman. His name is Luke, I think. Jace, Luke and Clary haven't wasted time, they arrived quickly. I left Jason in their hands, and I took you straight to the hospital.
