Chapter 22

Once his conversation with Luke was over, Alec decided to return to Magnus's room. He took the elevator and went to the second floor. Arriving at the door, he heard voices and laughter from Magnus's room. Frowning, he entered, wondering who Magnus could be with. He saw a boy, barely older than him, sitting on the chair next to Magnus's bed. Alec had never seen him before.

Magnus noticed his presence and smiled at him.

"Here you are Alec! Let me introduce you to Ragnor, my best friend."

Ragnor stood up and approached Alec.

"So, you're the famous Alec! It seems that you made Magnus mad, didn't you?

"What do you mean?" said Alec.

"Well, you know, with the other guy! How is his name yet? Jack? Jean? Oh no Jason, I remember!"

"Ragnor, leave him alone!" Magnus intervened.

Ragnor shrugged.

"Okay, okay... well Magnus I have to leave you now but I'll come back to see you tomorrow."

"Great!"

Ragnor nodded to Alec, who ignored him, then left. Alec sighed and went to sit next to Magnus on the bed.

"Does your friend have a problem with me or what?" Alec asked.

"Don't be mad, he just worries about me."

"It really wasn't a reason to attack me like that. As if I didn't feel bad enough. And ... you told him everything? About Jason ...?'

"I was forced to. He asked me thousands of questions when I told him I was in the hospital. I called him when you left earlier, he came right away."

"And you've known him for a long time?"

"Since high school, about 5 years."

"Oh..."

Magnus smiled.

"Are you jealous?

"What? Not at all!" Alec replied sharply.

"Well, that's a good thing because there is nothing between him and me and there never will. He's my friend and that's all."

Alec ran a hand through his hair.

"If you say so."

"Do you not trust me?"

"Of course I trust you!"

"So what's going on? I can see that something is wrong."

"Nothing, it's just that I understand if you don't want me anymore after what happened ..."

"Alec, I know very well that it's not your fault. And I don't want anyone but you. Anyway, you will not get rid of me that easily!"

Alec laughed and Magnus put an arm around his shoulders.

"So, tell me now where you left." Magnus said.

"Jace, Clary and Luke came. Luke told me Jason is in detention for attempted murder. The only problem is that he could be released soon."

"Alec, if it must be done, let it go ..."

"Magnus, why are you saying that? He hurt you, you should be the first to want him to pay and go to jail!"

"Because all that matters to me is that you're fine. And I can't wait to get out of this hospital and having a happy life with you. And no, I don't necessarily want Jason to go to jail but I want him to get a treatment and to be healed by good doctors, so he doesn't do what he did to me again ever again. He needs care, not handcuffs."

Alec took Magnus's hand in his. Then he kissed him.

"Magnus, you're too good and wise for this world."

Magnus kissed him back.

Knock Knock !

Two small knocks on the door of Magnus' room made Alec's eyes opened. He saw that Magnus was also waking up. They had both fallen asleep. Alec stood up and went to open. It was Isabelle. When she saw her brother, she took him in his arms.

"Alec! Jace and Clary told me everything, I came as soon as I could! My God, this story with Jason has gone too far!"

"Thank you so much for coming, Izzy."

Isabelle detached herself from her brother and went to Magnus. She kissed her cheek and sat next to him. He smiled at her.

"How do you feel, Magnus?" she asked.

"Much better. I think I can go out soon."

"I still can't believe what happened. If I EVER see him again..."

"Izzy, don't worry. Everything's fine now. I'm happy to see you."

"Me too, I'm so glad you're okay."

Then she turned to Alec.

"Is Jason really in prison?"

"Not really," Alec replied. "He's only in detention for now. Luke told me that he could be released soon."

"But we can't let this happened!!! Jason is insane!!" Isabelle exclaimed.

"No Izzy, he is sick," Magnus corrected her softly. "That's different."

"I don't care, Magnus! Let me remind you that he almost killed you!!"

Magnus didn't answer anything but he remained thoughtful.

"Anyway," said Alec, "Magnus is right on one thing: Jason needs to get a treatment. Otherwise he will start again what he did and it could be even more serious. I'm waiting for Luke's call to let me know what happen."

At that moment, a nurse entered to the room with several papers.

"Good morning, Mr. Bane," she said. "I hope you feel better."

"Yes, thank you."

"I'm coming because you were given permission to leave the hospital today. Your wounds are healed and you seem very well. You can go home if you wish."

Magnus looked at Alec, full of joy.

"Of course!"

"Okay, just sign this paper please."

Magnus took the paper that the nurse handed him and signed at the bottom of the page. Then he got up cautiously, walked a few steps, and seeing that he had no difficulty to walk, he smiled. He was ready to go home.

"We're going home," he told Alec.

He took Alec's hand in his, and followed by Isabelle and the nurse, they left the hospital room.
