The next day Luke had arranged a meeting with Alec and Magnus at the police station. They were both nervous about seeing Jason. In which mind would he be? And why did he absolutely want to talk to them?
They both arrived and saw that Luke was already waiting for them. They approached him.
"Hello Alec, hello Magnus ..."
"Hello Luke. Why did you make an appointment here? Don't we go to the prison?"
"Yes, but I prefer to drive you myself. It will be safer."
Alec nodded.
"Be very careful when you are there. Don't talk to anyone except Jason. You listen to what he has to say and you leave. I will wait for you outside to bring you back."
"Very reassuring ..." whispered Magnus.
But only Alec had heard him. He squeezed his hand in his.
"But there is no reason for it to go wrong, is it?" Alec asked. "I mean ... it's secure, right?"
"Yes, but we are never too careful. Well, come on let's go."
Luke, Alec and Magnus headed for Luke's car, got into it and Luke started to drive. Throughout the journey, Alec and Magnus were traversed by different emotions. Alec was angry and nervous knowing that he was going to see Jason, the person who hurt him and hurt Magnus. He didn't know at all how he would react when he will saw him. As for Magnus, he was stressed and wriggled his fingers. Being in front of the person who broke into his home and assaulted him didn't reassure him at all. He thought, at least, Alec was with him.
Noticing Magnus's agitation beside him, Alec took Magnus's hand.
'Don't worry, everything will be fine.'
Alec was trying to convince Magnus, but he wondered if he was trying to convince himself too.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am. I won't let anyone hurt you. Never again."
Magnus moved closer to Alec and rested his head on his shoulder, reassured by his presence next to him. Alec put his arm on Magnus' shoulders and they spent the rest of the way tight against each other.
Half an hour later the car parked in a courtyard, where a large gray building stood. Two policemen stood in front of the entrance and watched the surroundings. The atmosphere of this place didn't reassure Alec.
Before getting out of the car, Luke pulled a folder out of the glove box. Then all three of them got out of the car and they went to the entrance of the prison, where the two policemen were. There, Luke took out his police badge, then he opened the file to get out a paper stipulating the right of visit granted to Alec and Magnus. The police checked and then let them in.
Inside, Alec winced. The place was unhealthy, the scenery was sad and we could hear prisoners arriving every moment escorted by a policeman. There was noise and shouting everywhere. Alec had only one desire: to go as far as possible from here. Luke turned to them:
"Well, here we are. I don't have the right to come with you because Jason only specified you two. But I will stay in the entrance, all right? At the slightest problem, I will be kept informed. A policeman will pick you up and drive you to Jason. Don't worry, it's highly secure."
As Luke finished speaking, a policeman approached them.
"Are you Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane?"
"Yes, we are."
"Follow me."
With one last nod, Luke left them and walked to the entrance of the prison to wait for them. They went to a room specifically for the visitors.
