It's finally a new moon and Ruby and I are curiously looking at the box that we're supposed to open, the nerves we're feeling fills the whole caravan. I had hoped that we'd be able to reach my home before the new moon so we'd open the box there but, unfortunately, we're still kilometers away. I still feel a little uneasy, like something bad is going to happen and I can't explain what.

"Let's just get it over with. I think this tension is making me dizzy." Ruby says with a nervous tone. I nod and we both slowly reach our hands to the box. But when we try to open it, it doesn't budge. We look at each other confused.

"Why didn't it open? The old man said it would open for us on a new moon so why isn't it working?" Ruby asks me and I just shrug. I bite my lip as I try and think of a solution.

"Maybe it needs to be in the new moon's light." Ruby suggests.

"It's worth a shot."

We take the box and step out into the clearing we parked in. There's a small waterfall here as well and the trees are high and vividly green.

A shiver shoots down my spine and I'm not sure if it's because of the uneasy feeling multiplying or the breeze that passes by me.

Ruby puts her arm around me and pulls me closer to her as we make our way to the middle of the clearing. I can tell she's feeling off too.

We sit down on our knees under the light of the new moon and place the box in front of is. We look at each other before facing the box and trying again to open it.

This time, as soon as our fingers graze the box's smooth surface, an electric-like shock runs through my body. It's not painful but it does surprise me. Leaves and flowers and debris around us starts floating as the atmosphere fills with a strong magical energy. Something urges me to hold Ruby's hand with my other one as we continue touching the box and feeling the electricity.

As soon as I have her hand in mine, the feeling intensifies and I feel my heart beat faster. I somehow feel Ruby's too, as if our hearts are beating in sync.

I feel my hair flow around me and notice the freckles on my arms light up like little stars in the sky. That has never happened before, not even when I go into a trance. I turn to look at Ruby and I'm surprised by what I see.

Her short hair is flowing around too and I see that her fangs are out. She faces me as well and I see her eyes are completely different. They look like they are shining a soft greenish blue light. The area under her eyes have veins slightly raised on her skin. She looks unbelievably beautiful.

She gasps suddenly as she studies my face in shock.

"You're eyes....they're different..." She breathes out.

"You're eyes are different too..."

Before we could say anything else, an enchanting voice gains our attention. As if knowing where it's coming from somehow, we look directly at the moon that shines brighter than we've seen before.

"Toni....Ruby....My chosen ones." The voice sounds so hypnotic and smooth to my ears. A woman in a beautiful headdress and white veil appears in front of us.

"You have finally found each other and have begun to fulfil your joint destiny, just as I have created. I, The Moon Goddess, have chosen you two pure beings to be my most powerful guardians and rulers of all mystical beings. I bestowed these powers and prophecies unto you before your existence. You will be my glorious heirs."

The box then opens under our fingers to reveal two necklaces inside. The items levitate out of the box and float in front of the goddess in front of us.
