"What the fuck do you mean she's not there?! It's impossible for her to get out of there!"

I hear Kara speak very angrily on the other side of the door. The thing she drugged me with wore off awhile ago but since I'm trapped in this room, I've been laying here trying to think of ways to escape.

"Mistress...W-We, uh...don't know what happened. She w-wasn't, you know, in the chamber..."

I sit up realize they're talking about Ruby, my heart beating impossibly fast at the prospect of her having found a way to escape. But how...

"You idiots! How is it possible that she's not in that room! She's fucking wounded, her strength should be next to nothing!" I hear her pacing up and down, grumbling under her breath, her frustration makes me happy. Her stupid plans are being messed with.

"So you mean to tell me that no one saw her or heard her leave? No sign of blood, no struggle, nothing? What's the point of having your dumbasses around if you can't do a simple job like watching the damn door?!"

"W-We're sorry Mistress."

"You're sorry?! Without her, my plans are fucking ruined!"

"Mistress-"

"Leave! I need to think."

I hear two pairs of light footsteps scurry away and another coming towards the room.

Laying back down, I pretend to be asleep. This new information has given me the perfect opportunity to end this. But I'm going to need more information about her so-called "Great Rebirth" and for her to trust me. And there's only one way to do that.

I hear her unlock the door, stepping in quietly when she sees me sleeping. I must admit, she's still very considerate of me despite this whole thing. Getting her to trust me might be easier than I thought. She's still in love with me so I could easily use that against her.

I feel her sit next to me, her cold hand on my cheek. This is when I decide to "wake up". Hopefully she won't see through my act.

"You're awake... sorry I had to drug you, you were getting a little bit out of hand. It's easier to control you this way." She says softly and I try not to show my disgust.

'how am I supposed to play along when she says demeaning shit like that?!'

I chose to stay quiet. It'll be too obvious if I suck up too quickly.

She stays quiet too, just looking at me and letting her hand caress my cheek. Her face is calm considering the conversation she just had and I can't tell what she's thinking, which worries me.

"You are so beautiful... I don't think I'll ever understand how you are so perfect."
Her voice is still soft, her face showing her genuine feelings for me. The way she's looking at me -her eyes shining with complete adoration, her lips pull into a sweet smile- it reminds me of the time when I used to love her back, before she changed. And I have to admit, seeing her like this is somewhat bittersweet.

"I love you, Toni. I know you still love me too. You and I, we were made for each other. It's our destiny, our fate, to be together. To rule over this world. You, my love, are meant to be with me, to be my queen..."

She pulls me up and moves me to sit on the edge of the bed with her kneeling in front of me and taking my hands into hers.

She stares at me expectantly, waiting for an answer as if what's she's asked of me isn't completely insane.

'i have to play along...if Ruby escaped, then that means she's probably going to my coven..they'll come up with something, all I need to do is play along, get Kara to trust me then stop her...just play along...'

"I'll be your queen, we'll rule this world together..My love..."

Saying this tears me up inside. I feel like I've betrayed everything I ever believed in, betrayed everyone that trusts me and my prophecy, betrayed Ruby.

Kara looks ecstatic. She believes my words in an instant, not even doubting me for a moment.

Instead, she leans closer to me, showing her affection and gratitude with a kiss that I now have to reciprocate. This feels more and more like a betrayal.

'just play along...'

I look around the dark room. It looks like some sort of throne room, with red tapestry hanging along the grey walls and old suits of armour standing like proud soldiers. The room is lightened by the old candelabras hanging from the ceiling. The floor is made up of a solid dark stone with a burgundy carpet leading up to a throne of steel. It looks uncomfortable and creepy with the skulls decorating it. This whole room is creepy.

"This is our throne room. I know it's not really your style but I'll allow you to add some things to make it yours too. It'll look better once your throne is here too."

Kara leads me by the hand to the steel chair. It looks beyond useless but I guess she likes it judging by the crazy smile on her face. She sits down and pulls me to her lap, making me tense up at the feelings of her hands on my waist.

"Once everything is taken care of we'll be able to go on with the Great Rebirth. Then you and I can finally rule this world together, for all eternity." She sounds so wistful.

"Once everything is taken care of? What do you mean by that?"

She rests her forehead against my shoulder sighing and wrapping her arms around me.

"That vampire of yours escaped..." She growls out before moving her face to my neck where I can feel her grin wickedly. "But don't worry, I'll find her again and make sure she never thinks she do something like that again."

My heart clenched at threat. I can't let Kara hurt Ruby. I mean it's bad enough that Ruby's the Royal Blood, she's also my girlfriend which has obviously fueled the hatred Kara holds for her. And now that she thinks I'm on her side, she's more motivated to go through with this.

"You're not going to hurt her are you? I agreed to your request, I don't see a need to hurt her." I can't stop myself from saying that the way I did. So much for getting Kara to think I'm doing this for her.

I feel her stiffening and getting angry at my words.

"Don't tell me you still care about what happens to her. You're back with me now, she's a mistake you made that I forgive you for."

It takes quite a lot of me not to roll my eyes at that. How generous of her. But I've got to lay it on thick.

'how was I in love with this chick..'

"And I'm very grateful for your forgiveness...maybe you can even allow me to be the one to bring her back?"

"No, I don't want you near her. I'll find a way to get her back."

Well there goes one of my plans. I guess she's not willing to let me out of her sight just yet. So I'll just have to gather information and do whatever I'll need to do right under her nose.

"Well, can you at least tell me about the Great Rebirth?"

Her dark smile comes back as her eyes gleam with some sort of happiness. Her arms pull me closer and she kisses any of my skin within her lips reach. This certainly makes her overjoyed, so much so that she doesn't even notice my slight cringe.

"Of course, baby. What would you like to know?"
