Chapter 1: Before...

Part 1. Before Him...
Emma Jones was born in the 89th century, so much in the world had changed after the 5th world war. She's 15 and lives in what used to be Utah, but now it's called RealN State.

Her past is written in sorrow. Her father, Isaiah Cole, is in prison for adultery with her mother. He was married to another woman, Zoey Cole, and they had three sons, Isaac, Cody, and Zany. Emma's mother, Stacey Jones, was away at rehab as punishment for having Emma. It was against the law to have a baby without being married and the baby to not be theirs. So she lived with her grandparents who didn't treat her as well as they did her cousins. For being an illegitimate child, she had more rules over head than most of her friends.

High school was a different story. The transition from Untied Junior High to Universal High School was the craziest thing to ever become.
Someone who used to feel her best friend, Julie George, left her on the last day of freshman year for Emma's ex boyfriend, Kyle Jean. But at least Emma had her true best friend, someone she's known since Unicorn Elementary; Roxanna "Roxy" Ganza was everything to Emma.

But Emma wanted something good to come out of sophomore year, so much more than what she got freshman year. Emma decided to leave her past behind and create a new reputation for herself. She would move on from Julie and Kyle to find better people and a better life. Sophomore year would be the worst and best thing to ever happen to her.

Part 2. Before Her...
Jose Fuller is 17 and a junior at Universal High. Jose has a little sister named Jessica. Their parents, Julissa and James, have been happily married for the past 20 years. He's an A student and plays for the varsity spring baseball team. His is best friend was David Roy, a junior and Roxanna's sister, Madeline's, ex boyfriend.

The past two years of high school for Jose, he spent most of it with his ex, Alexandria Jax. She graduated early. Alex was a couple months younger than Jose. Their relationship was public, and legal. But Jose knew they would get in trouble if the continued to date after Alex had graduated early for having "over intelligence," meaning tests read her as too smart, so Alex went to Harvardest College. They both loved each other dearly but they couldn't be together anymore. They broke up. Jose Fuller had broken up with his first girlfriend. He was ready to start something new, ready to move on. As he knew Alex would move onto some college freshman.

On the first day of his junior year, he seen a girl who made his ex seem like nothing. She was Emma. He knew nothing about her but they will learn, they have first period together. He seen this pretty girl, who would, eventually, be his worst and best mistake.
